My DVD-R Brand Of Choice

I've used these Riteks since '03 and they've proven reliable in the long run. I've burned hundreds of these and have had very, very few coasters. The label has no dark ink on it, so it's easy to write on. Great value. Highly recommended.
half of dvd were ok until none worked

I purchased the ritek due to a good review. Now, after using half the disks, which had problems with my samsung dvd recorder, I have 20 so far that cannot be recorded. Shame on you Ritek. The disks I bought were the ones you can print on. Too many problems. I will go back to the major brands again.

They become unplayable after a few months. Do a google search for Ritek 8x problems and you will get to the online forums where this problem has been discussed.
I just threw away a hundred discs that I burned less than 8 months ago!!!

I've burned over 250 of these with ZERO coasters, no errors, ever. I have perfect playback on computer DVD players as well as my standalone Panasonic S-27. I have never had any shipping problems, broken discs, or any of the other problems mentioned by some people below. I will never use another brand.

As one of the reviewer said, the shipping is terrible. When I opened the package, it looked like that it was thrown from the top of empire building. If you like buy a puzzle made from 100 DVD-R, I highly recommended to you to buy this item.

I've never really had a problem using these dvd's they tend to work better on my lite-on burner than Fuji or memorex but on my last purchase i bought 8x and i could only burn them at 4x, not a big deal but wish it worked properly
Ritek has major problems. 2005-08-16
I was a loyal Ritek user for some time. I bought these exact discs in May of this year and burned them on a number of drives. Scans at the time showed very low error levels. This weekend I rescanned and ALL the discs had increases in error levels of over 1000%, many were barely readable. Draw your oown conclusions.
No coasters here - good value spindle 2005-06-29
When I got the latest new PC at home, one of the things we wanted to do was recorded DVDs to playback on our Toshiba RS-TX60 Tivo, and to record onto from said Tivo for playback on our portable DVD player.
I've had problems in the past with dirt cheap CD-Rs, (not from Ridata), but with the good reviews out there, we decided to go for these because the price point was so good.
To date we've probably burnet around 60 DVDs (both Data and DVD-Video) and so far no coasters above and beyond user error with Nero. Burn speed is good and there have not been any warnings during any of the burn cycles. And of course there have been no playback problems on any of our systems (PC, Tivo, portable player, Powerbook or other peoples' DVD players).
All in all, very good value for money!

I am writing this review because I was shocked when this package arrived from Amazon. This pack of DVD's weighs 4 pounds. Amazon packed it in a box with a few air pillows. Not a tight pack... just throw a few things in a box, tape it up and ship it. When it got here the box was totally out of shape and the tape was almost torn loose. UPS waited for a damage report. Who knows? The DVD's aren't broke but I don't know if the surfaces are damaged until I try to burn them. When I told Amazon what happened they said they forwarded my message to shipping and that the product was shipped fine since it had air pillows. Seems to me they need someone in shipping who understands what a 4 pound weight does in a box loosely packed... it's a toy for the UPS guy at best.
I won't buy the 100 DVD packs anymore and will be checking other sources than Amazon for this. Customer loyalty is built on customer satisfaction; a lesson that Amazon is forgetting. Read the reviews from other buyers of 100 pack DVD's, you will see this is not an isolated event.
