Clark Kent lives in Smallville, but in many ways he is out of this world, and so is this spectacular series that provides a fascinating spin on Superman lore. Season 3 is marked by Clark's inability to overpower destiny and its pressing call for his return home. Clark, who has left Smallville for Metropolis, returns to Smallville to help his parents, who are desperately trying to save their cash-strapped farm and is happily surprised to find that Lex Luthor has survived a deadly jet crash. Lex and Clark's ill-fated camaraderie is strengthened by this miracle but causes tension in the close-knit Kent family, as Jonathan fears that Lex will emulate Lionel and his unscrupulous ways, even while Lex has tried to establish his own identity.

Better than most superhero movies. Smallville is a big hit.

The suprising thing about Smallville when you first start watching it is: It's a compelling drama...about a young Superman! Father-son relationships, teenage romance, and supernatural storylines all blend together to create a richness that the more comic-book inspired versions of Superman have lacked. But even if you are a comic book fan, you'll be won over by it because it is faithful to what really matters about Superman: the character's struggle to fit in among humanity while secretly desiring to be one of us...and being with the girl of his dreams.
The actors are all incredibly good-looking (not a bad thing) but they can also act and they are given some really great material. In these early seasons the relationship between Lex and Lionel (played by Michal Rosenbaum and John Glover) was most fascinating to me. But Clark (Tom Welling) is the heart of the show. Lana is the hot girl of his dreams and she is often left to look longingly at him while he pulls away...but Kristen Kruek who plays her does it well and I think the producers have been smart to spread out the "relationship" episodes with different adventures. All the characters get to shine in different episodes and there are some great nods to the Christopher Reeve movies.
I plan to purchase more in the series. I bought season five first because that is the season that I started watching and I began catching the reruns on cable for a time.
Has the series "jumped the shark?" I don't know. That may be debatable and I haven't caught as many episodes recently. But I think seasons 1 through 5 of Smallville are pretty awesome.
Final note: this season has a very funny blooper reel. Michaal Rosenbaum seems to be the set clown.

I'm a big fan of the show I though it was a great continuation from season 2 and definately reccomend this.

This is one of the best series to ever appear on television. The writing is superb, the acting is great, and the photography is phenominal. The third season offers plenty of extras including deleted scenes, a making-of documentary, and more of "The Chloe Chronicles", which I consider to be "must see" for any avid fan of Smallville.

Wow, what a grest Season, Bad Superman, Cat Fights, Sexy Scenes and SO MUCH MORE. It starts out strong, and keeps at it throughout the season. Great Writing, Great Episodes, and very enjoyable to watch.
