Very specialized tool

This has been a real life saver for the few time a year that i pull it out to bore out lock sets on blank door slabs. everything you need for a good job is right there in the set, just make sure you bring along a nice sharp chisel to finish of the mortises after punching them in.
Best Bang for your Buck

Dollar for dollar I think this is the best jig out there! It comes with extra cutters for the mortising tools and extra clips for the bits also a snap on drill stop for those who prefer to drill from both sides of the door. It locks on solid to the door and cuts straight every time. I looked at several brands before choosing this one, PC is plastic, Templaco and Classic Engineering are fine tools but cost one - three hundred dollars more. I only do 1-5 doors a week and I think this jig may out last me, time will tell. On the down side it is imported and I wish it had a 1" spur bit instead of a spade bit. Overall I'm very satisfied with the quality of this lockset jig and it's Limited Lifetime Warranty and that replacement parts are available thru [...].
Look's good,Works bad!

I have done finish carpentry for thirty five years, and for twenty five of those I have used a Schlage lock gig.Thought it was time to update, you know round corner faceplates and all.Well, don't waste your time or money. This tool is the worst I have tried in some time!It will not hold to the door unless you tighten so tight it will crush the door. The 2 1/8 bit I don't think would cut through butter.I did not try the faceplate cutters, but they look good!

Get It Done!

Purchased for a cabinet shop. Quality Professional tool. Whether it is one door, or 50, it is just what I needed to get the job done.

this was a great investment !! i do a lot of door work and this kit saved me a lot of time installing lock sets on new door slabs
Idiot proof, but flawed

This worked well for me. I don't have a ton of practice hanging doors so I was willing to pay for something that would prevent mistakes. It worked well, the lockset went in without a significant hitch. The one flaw I noticed is that the attached bits get dull quickly (the fourth hole was significantly more difficult than the first). Other than that I recomend the kit.
Almost good

As another reviewer noted, it isn't the old Schlage set, but it appears to be the only show in town. Because it is it appears that it doesn't try too hard at being good. It looks like it has all the bases covered, but the quick release chuck fell apart on the first use, The forstener had trouble with a solid masonite/composite door. The works got stuck pretty quickly, needing lubing by the third door I worked on.
Is it better than marking out with a tri-square and knife? Sure.
Did it save time? Yeah.
But I surely do not feel that I got a quality piece of equipment and will have to settle for babying it to work with it until something better comes along.
Good deal!

I have used it to bore about 50 wood doors already, and it works good. Also I have used it on commercial hollow metal doors 18 and 16ga. and works good too, but you have to change the hole saw guide to do metal doors and you have to be careful not to loose the small set screws and alen wrenches that come in the case. The only thing I would buy once I order one set, is a new extra carbide 2-1/8 bit, because at about your 10th door the bit that comes included starts getting dull, and you really have to push much harder., hopefully a carbide bit would make a difference, I haven't tried it, but will order one shortly. Thanks
