Love it for a starter mp3 player

This is a great buy for someone who do not have experience with MP3 players. Very easy to download music.
Great product for kids!

We bought three Ipod Shuffles for my girls for Christmas. Not only do the girls love them, but so do my husband and I. They are easy to get working and very simple for them to use. I don't have to worry about the fancy screens (Nano's)that would confuse the kids. And I also got at a great deal. $40 bucks each! Needless to say I'm very happy with my purchase. I'm going to get one for my nephew next!
IPOD Shuffle

While I like my shuffle it has problems. Particularly with the software. We have 3 in our family and they all have the same problem As Apple produces more up graded ipods they ensure that you have to purchase a newer one because eventually you can't change your play lists or anything.
Perfect

I love this product and was upset when the manufacturer's replaced it with the more compact model. My son was the only member of our family who did not have an Ipod. Since he is 5, I am leary of spending too much on any items as they will probably get lost or broken. The design of this Ipod is more eyecatching than the newer shuffle leaving it less suseptible to losing. It's hard plastic case is more durable and I don't have to worry about scratched CD's anymore when my son listens to his music in his room. Gone also are countless battery changes and electrical cords.

It was as Christmas gift and my niece loved it. It came on time in teh mail.
Perfect for kids!

I bought two of these for my kids (7 & 10) -- they are the perfect size, they don't lose them because it hangs around their necks and it has PLENTY of room for their songs. I download audiobooks for my 7 year old and they both can share my music library (with my permission). No screen to break when they fall out of the car when the door opens and if somehow it does break, it didn't break the bank to buy in the first place!
It's all you need, if that's all you need.

I walk and lift weights for exercise. I can quickly go from walking music to weight lifting music. I can listen while I workout, or being a couch potato. If your not looking to spend alot and want to just listen to your music in an easy up to date fashion go with this unit or any other no frills(video etc.) version. Great sound easy to use.
The best iPod ever?
2008-03-10
I bought one of these and used it for about a year. Then we went to the beach and when we came back, I realized I had left some lucky cleaning person the best loaded iPod in America...now I am writing about my long lost friend, the first generation iPod Shuffle.
The whole point of simplicity is to keep it simple and not be distracted endlessly by poor quality add-on fluff. One reviewer called this a "dumbed down ipod"...I guess that person didn't have the money to buy the iPod they were actually wanting, the one that plays Bono videos so tiny that you can't even tell what you are seeing. That's too bad for them, but no need to trash this gem on account of a bad purchasing decision. I have had and played with many versions of the iPod, many by Apple, others not, and this original Shuffle is the best iPod I have ever come across. I can hang this Shuffle around my neck, lie back on my couch and just listen to audio books and talks. I don't have to read exclusively to get quality information during downtime any more, and it's simple and doesn't tempt me to play with it endlessly and distract myself from what I really want to be doing. Random/order, play/off. It's strange how some people can't appreciate a device that makes life simpler and more enjoyable. I LOVE this little thing more than all the video iPods with tiny incoherently distorted pixelly screens in the world put together! If you want to fiddle with play lists and try to decipher minuscule video, go ahead, but in a world full of crap media blitzes and pointless distractions, this iPod is as good as the iPod phenomenon is ever going to get in terms of enhancing the quality of living.
Original Shuffle-the best

This first generation i-pod shuffle arrived within 4 business days even though I opted for standard shipping. The product was packaged well. My wife likes the sound of the 1st generation i-Pod Shuffle better than the 2nd generation type. Recommend this product if you can find one.
Great sound, perfect for podcasts
2008-02-24
The first gen shuffle uses a different sound card than any other ipod. the sound card is better, especially at producing low frequency sounds. so if you like to listen to a few songs at a time, this will be perfect for your ears
also, podcast users know that listening to podcasts on a normal ipod is kind of a pain, because you have to navigate every time you finish a podcast, but this inconvenience doesn't hold true for the shuffle. it will play podcast files one after another continuously
