Editorial Review
The KitchenAid Pro Line Coffee Mill is made of handsome Die-Cast metal housing making for a rugged, stable, and easy to clean unit. With the Pro Line Coffee Mill, you can adjust the Commercial Quality Stainless Steel Cutting Burrs to 15 different Grind Sizes for that perfect Espresso, French Press, or cup of automatic drip. The 7 oz capacity bean hopper and coffee bin are glass to minimize the static "cling" of coffee grounds. The DC motor with gear reduction system makes for quiet grinding. System turns the cutting burrs at just 450 rpm, minimizing the frictional heating of the grinds and preserving coffee flavor and aroma. The Under-Cabinet design allows the unit to fit easily under wall cabinets on the countertop. The smooth metal housing is a snap to wipe clean. Bean hopper, hopper lid, and coffee bin are dishwasher-safe.

Kitchenaid Bur Coffee Grinder 2009-04-12
We are impressed with this product. It does a great job grinding the coffe and makes all the difference in the world in the taste as opposed to our old blade grinder. The only thing I would mark this product down for is the bottom glass jar that collects the ground coffee is pretty thin glass and I think it may be easily broken. It is not nearly as substantial as the top glass piece where the beans go.

I love the product. Its so much better than any I've used/owned previously. Thank you so much. KW

An outstanding coffee grinder 2009-02-04
Burr-ground coffee tastes better. This is one magnificent gleaming bull of a grinder. Espresso may be a delight but it's over too soon for me, so I can't pronounce on the fine end, but the Kitchenaid's coarse settings yield French press coffee without mud; one click finer feeds my moka pot (Bialetti Moka Express 6-Cup Stovetop Percolator which fills one mug); the mid to fine range produces perfect drip in a plastic cone (e.g. Manual Drip Coffee Filter Cone). Other Kitchenaid small electrics have given me good service for a generation. And what's more, the thirty seconds I don't have to stand there holding the button down delight me.

Don't forget the MOST important criteria: the TASTE! 2008-12-27
I have read some very detailed and well written reviews of this burr grinder. I haven't read them all, but the ones I have reviewed leave out the most important criteria - the TASTE of the ground beans.

I gave this grinder to my son for Christmas, and I have been using it for a few days while he travels. My son, a barista in his own right, who introduce me to coffee, has taught me all the important aspects of making great coffee. I always grind my beans just before I brew the coffee in a French press (excuse my French). I keep the beans in a vacuum keeper. I brew at 190 degrees, F (I don't do metric).

On my first cup from this grinder I suspected something, that I have now confirmed. This grinder does not burn the beans. I had come to believe that the burned and acrid taste was simply part of the coffee experience. Not so, it was part of the burned bean experience imparted by all my blade grinders, and both of my burr grinders.

This grinder runs at a lower speed (see the Kitchenaid propaganda), and OH, what a sweet difference slower grinding makes! The coffee is not bitter, the "other" flavor is gone, and I am now tasting the bean as God intended it to be tasted.

As for other lesser important criteria, this is much less noisy than all my other grinders, it does not spew grinds out the side onto the countertop as my present (soon to be replaced by this Kitchenaid) grinder does, it is much faster than any other grinder I have owned. It does not have markings for how many cups you have ground, but you get used to that in a few grinds. It is larger than any others I have owned, but how important to you is great coffee? And Kitchenaid's Customer Service is top notch! Spend an "extra" $50 for this grinder, and you will never need another one.

coffee grinder good 2008-12-22
This product is built like a tank and has eliminated problems with static and equipment that is impossible to maintain and install replace parts. On top of all that, it is much quieter than the burr grinder it replaced.

Finally, a quality burr grinder for my kitchen 2008-11-02

Great grinder! 2008-10-30
My Gaggia 7001 finally packed it in after a couple of years of use and I replaced it with the KitchenAid. While the KitchenAid doesn't seem to grind quite as fine (which it might do, but I haven't actually tried to fine-tune the grinding mechanism yet) and while it takes up a bit more space on the counter top, it is MUCH quieter, MUCH faster, and MUCH easier to use! It is also a MUCH sturdier unit. I could not be happier with it!

Quality construction, poor design 2008-10-16
I paid $150 for this machine because I am tired of buying things that don't last. This machine is built like small appliances built 50 years ago and I'm confident it it will last a long long time.

However, for a product this expensive they really missed on the mark on design. For example, there is just a simple flip switch for on/off. As a result, it requires that you stand there and monitor how much coffee has been ground and turn it off at precisely the right moment. A much better design would be an adjustable timer so you could turn on the grinder and walk away and come back to the amount you wanted.

Also, the coffee receptacle needs a handle so you can get it out and pour the coffee into the coffee maker. As it is, it feels like it is going to fall out of your hand because it is wide and smooth glass.

Finally, we put the glass receptacle away and don't use it any more because we found it is easier to just put the filter basket from the coffee maker under the grinder and let the ground coffee fall directly into the filter basket. Our use of it in this manner made me wonder why it was not designed this way. There could be a track under the grinder that would allow you to insert the coffee maker filter basket right under the grinder and, with the timer I suggested, you could walk away and come back and just pull out the basket and put it into your coffee maker.

I know this might seem like I am dissatisfied, but the quality of the machine itself makes up for a lot. I just wonder if the designers of this machine actually use it at home. We have children and mornings are hectic. It just seems there is a market for a quality high-end grinder like this that combines a few convenience features.

So for quality I would give it 5 stars, but for features I would give it 1, so on balance I gave it 3 stars.

needs adjustment 2008-10-13
I've only had this grinder for a few days, but right out of the box, I noticed ( small stuff) the measuring spoon missing and the lid to the hopper was scratched, made me wonder if I got a returned/re-packaged grinder? I bought this mostly for our french press and we also have an espresso machine. On first try, the finest grind was course ( for espresso)...and I actually notched it down one for my french press. I'm thinking I have to make some adjustments already, which means taking it apart...this displeases me already for the money i put out. All the other reviews seem so positive. I wanted to let someone know about the missing parts and scratches, but haven't been able to leave feedback to the sender. I will give this a go ...hopefully this is not my final review.KitchenAid Pro Line Burr Coffee Grinder, Pearl Metallic

It is as Advertised 2008-10-07
After checking around for a good replacement coffee grinder, I decided to go with the KitchenAid Pro Line Burr Coffee Grinder. Many of my fellow coffee drinkers are more into espresso coffee vs drip or French roast and don't believe this grinder is up to the task. They could be right but I don't wake to espresso each morning but instead go for a good drip coffee from my Technivorm Moccamaster and found that this grinder is more then up to the challenge. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star is that it is still a fairly new purchase and I need to make sure the durability is there but presently I am more then satisfied with this grinder.
