Editorial Review
Through the years, Kodak has led the way with an abundance of new products and processes that have made photography simpler, more useful and more enjoyable. Today, the company's work increasingly involves digital technology, combining the power and convenience of electronics with the quality of traditional photography to produce systems that bring levels of utility and fun to the taking, "making" and utilization of images.

If you own the Kodak 1400, this is excellent 2008-06-22
This paper and dye-sublimation ink ribbon kit only work on Kodak's 1400 dye-sub printer - which to my mind is a great unit. Since Kodak has discontinued the printer, though, this review will only be useful to those who already own the 1400 printer (you know who you are!). And I presume that those people have already used this paper kit.

If not, it's great because it allows for the full 8x12 inch printout (essentially the full 1.5 ratio of the 35MM film image or the typical DSLR image chip). Like Kodak's other dye subs (or any dye sub printers) there are no ink jets to dry out and clog - so if you don't use this printer for, say, 6 months (or years), the next print will come out as good as the first. But again, this is something that dye sub owners already know.

Dye sub superior 2007-01-26
I purchased the Kodak 1400 printer (dye sub). I was not disappointed. I am a photographer and I am partial to chemical prints. This printer and paper is the closest you can get to that. The output is outstanding. I plan to purchase another printer. The paper I purchased was the glossy 8.5x14. I can do packages in Photoshop. I once again have control over my output, the same as I had with a chemical darkroom but without the chemicals. Read the instructions on how to calibrate the printer. Pop the paper into the tray and watch the print with amazement. I love you Kodak. The package comes with a ribbon and paper so you use what comes in the box together. There are no ink cartridges to have to buy. Also it prints very fast. The colors are rich. There is not enough that I can say about this. I wish Kodak would make a printer that does larger prints. I would get that too. I can do 4-4x6, 2-5x7, 1-8x10 with this paper. No hit or misses like ink jet.

Durability matters in my business 2007-01-19
I manufacture photo sculptures, a.k.a. photo cutouts, by laminating prints made with this kit to acrylic and then cutting away the background. That's a lot of handling and opportunity for scratches and scuffs.

These prints are not only up to the job, they produce vibrant colors, great contrast, and they are even waterproof!
