Sound and feel

New to the nursing field, the store that I went to purchase my supplies did not have many stethoscope brands to choose from other than Prestige Medical. I bought this and when nursing school started I compared it to other brands.

This stethoscope is so uncomfortable, heavy, and does not fit snugly in my ears. I am looking for another stethoscope that is lighter and fits better. The sounds are good, but wearing it is aggravating! It makes my ears hurt just writing this review.

Definitely not for professional or accurate use.

I'm not a medical professional, all I needed was something basic for home use (actually to track down a bees nest inside a wall). I gave it 3 stars based on casual home use and low price, but if I needed something accurate for real health monitoring I would not recommend it and would have given it 2 stars.

Pros - cheap, and you can hear vitals from a basic perspective, makes a great toy for a young person who is curious about medical stuff, and is ok for just general around the home use for the price.

Cons - uncomfortable no matter which earpieces you use, and the sound quality is not very good, would not trust this for anything important! Found it difficult to hear vitals well, not clear, doesn't compare to professional / expensive ones at all.

I am an RN and I was trying to find a cheaper stethescope, which I learned (again) was a bad choice! I ordered this sprague and it came with the box intact - but only one of the earpeices produced sound! Now I have to go through the hassle of sending it back. at least amazon reimbursed me for the shipping!

For the price... it's worth it....

A prior LPN and the mother of an asthmatic teen and a young infant... I purchased this stethoscope to replace the one I had from nursing that finally wore out. The quality for the price ($11.51) is perfectly fine. The acoustics are good enough for simple tasks such as listening to the air flow in the lungs for wheezing, counting a heart rate or listening for bowel sounds. Of course higher end stethoscopes give you better sound... but you can't complain about that at this price. I'd recommend this for those who have a need for one at home and for every day use. Professionals should purchase the higher end stethoscopes for their job.

Cant HEar clearly

I can't hear very clearly with this item. For the price I say it Okay. Be Sure to wipe it with Alcohol before use I got a ear infection because I didnt.

Great for the price

This stethoscope is great for the price. Really, the sprauge is essentially several different stethoscopes in one. While the acoustics on this won't compare to a higher quality stethoscope (though I haven't tried one), it certainly sounds better than a basic single diaphram stethoscope (which I also have). This is a very sturdy and well put together stethoscope, and, for about 30 bucks Can., it's very affordable. I recommend this stethoscope to anyone and everyone. Why? I think everyone should have a stethoscope, or, at least, a lot more people should. People become too dependant on blood pressure moniters, especially the electronic ones. I don't think I would ever get an electronic BP moniter. Why? Well, for starters I wasn't looking for one, I was getting a stethoscope. The reason I prefer a stethoscope is because they are much more exciting. I really like listening to my heartbeat, and find no interest in watching a little moniter go 'beep'. No I'm not a doctor or even interested in a medical career. I just like this stethoscope and using it is always cool. Enjoy.
