Makes Crown Easier
2007-02-14
I was reluctant to use this as I figured how hard can it be. I am hear to tell you that this product has made cutting crown much easier. I have never done it before and I tried cutting crown without it but in the matter of 1 hour I had 2 corners done and they are as close to perfect as you can get. I will have to do a little "patch work" but minimal compared to what I was looking at without it. The only problem I have is the fact that I have a 10" Compound Miter Saw and this product reduces the cutting capacity so the largest molding I can do is about 3 5/8". For larger crown I am going to have to buy a new Miter Saw (darn) and use this tool to do the holding. I recommend this product to anyone that has limited experience cutting crown as well as those who need to do a lot.

The crown jig is very easy to use and is a definite time saver. The instruction take the guesswork out of the equation and makes installing crown a snap!
MADE MY LIFE EASIER!

I was having a horrible time puttin my crown molding up, until i tried out this product, it takes all the math out of the job, and you can get it up so much faster, and it fits better! looks like a model home now! even with 6'' crown!

I am extremely pleased with this cutting jig. I was in the process of building an entertainment unit and I needed a tool to use that did not require a expert to know how to use it. I scanned the Internet and found several different types of jigs with various price ranges. However; this jig is easy to use and the price is great. I highly recommend this item for the novice handyman.
Great Investment !

I consider myself a pretty experienced woodworker, but when it came to cutting and installing crown moulding it was a challenge. I reviewed several home made type of jigs, but they seemed cumbersome and involved. In my internet search I came across this jig on Amazon and decided to give it a try. I was a bit sceptical at first, but after several joints I was sold. The more I used it, the easier it became to visualize and cut the different mitres. I had inside 45's, outside 45's, inside 22.5's and outside 22.5's all handled easily. If not for the poor construction and wall angles in my home, the job would have been completed in no time. This is truly a time saver and well worth the $30 investment.
does not make you a king of crown molding, but it helps

Crown molding is confusing, this set up helped though my angles still didn't meet up...but I was so close. I'll blame it on the miter saw.
Wow! Is this thing expensive!!

Boy, is this thing expensive! A friend gave me his after he completed his remodeling project and I find that it is a nice jig. It makes cutting crown molding easier. I can image that it would really help a novice.
The real advantage to this jig is the ability to re-set it for different molding. But if you are just cutting just one or two different sizes of molding, I suggest that you make a box out of some scrap plywood. It shouldn't take much more than 10-15 minutes if you have a table saw. You'll save $40 and can then take your significant other out for dinner.
As another reviewer suggested, attach this jig to the saw so it doesn't move. I used heavy duty double-stick tape with great results.
Good but not great!

It's one of a few of the good DIY'ers remedies to cutting crown moulding. I only wish that it would be able to hold the moulding tighter once it is in the device. Perhaps if the bench Dog's 10-010's "fence risers" and "crown stop" had some softer rubber attached to them or were made of softer rubber in general it would hold the moulding much better in place than what it does.
Worth every penny

Excellent tool. Helps you ascend the learning curve very rapidly. If you are hanging crown yourself, this is a must buy. Costs 10 bucks more than the Rockler version but I think this is a better tool.
Cutting Crown Molding

First and foremost, I do not work for this co. I am usually skeptical about reviews.
I've done a lot of Home Improvement projects. I will tell you that cutting crown molding is a pain in the brain. If you want a quality look this helps to situate the molding in the proper position. You won't have to use those ugly corner pieces that are like $5-10 a piece and look cheesey.
After wasting about $100 in molding I researched and found this...It works. FYI-By the way when cutting molding, I would highly reccomend that when placing try to place on the wall as one piece.
