Excellent AV, easy-to-use interface, with phone support! 2005-05-13
Now, almost all AVs program are memory suckers! Among Norton, McAfee and other AVs, Pc-cillin is least sucker! So, think twice before you upgrade your AV or try something else instead of purchasing a update if you are running a old pc like me.
I guess, all AVs developers are running new PCs like Intel P4 3Gz on Windows XP, and expecting everyone to upgrade your pc sooner or later.
In general, pc-cillin is easy-to-use in interface, with free phone support. McAfee has only internet support while norton charges for phone support.
I was using McAfee since 2000, and never satisfied with their product. I was forced to switch to Pc-cillin when I purchased McAfee 2005 upgrade because it sucked all my RAMs. Also, because of my out-of-dated McAfee firewall, hacker penetrated my McAfee 2005 upgrade and stole my password, blocked me from receiving any further update from McAfee server. McAfee has the worst update mechanism, and I must set internet explorer to accept ActiveX and cookies(which let the hacker to control my machine easily),then login first to their McAfee server in order to receive upgrade. So, the hacker got my McAfee password, free update right for a year, and I was left unprotected at all. No wonder, I heard lots of people can get free McAfee AV updates year after year even though they need to login first to McAfee server.
Pc-cillin do updates like Norton simple and direct!!!
The only thing I would like pc-cillin to add on is something like McAfee Visual Trace so that I can easily identify the intruders instead of a IP address.
Antispy is also weak, neither do Norton, McAfee and other AVs.
It is so far an excellent AV product in the market.

Terrible 2005-04-06
I had high hopes for this product, the newest version of PC-Cillin.
It effectively had it all from the virus protection,spam/spyware protection,a firewall, and more.
I have used older versions of PC Cillin from the very early #3 Version right up through to the 2000 version. It was up until that time the best anti virus software I had ever used.I loved its' ease of use,it didn't used much computer resource and ran in the background doing its' job admirably catching more than a few unwanted visitors over time.
As soon as I installed this program(full, with all options) it immediately had the effect of slowing EVERYTHING in my system down to a crawl as well as at times freezing it(especially when updating the pattern file). It also wouldn't allow various functions to run especially the ScanDisk. The program also seemed to be constantly writing to the drive for some reason or rather, you could clearly hear the indicative "grinding"...so much for this version using little resource and running quietly in the background.I knew immediately this wasn't the "good old days".
I uninstalled it and re-installed the so-called "light" version(just the basic real-time scan anti virus feature-which in itself is kind of a waste considering everything that this program has built into it) to see if that would change anything. Not a chance.
I run Windows 98 and have a 1.2GB P3 chip with about 384 of RAM.
My system flies and I had never experienced such a "slowing" on my system until this moment. The blurb for the product on Amazon AND on the package states it's supposed to run on such a system as mine.
From the get-go I was in immediate contact with Trend Micro "support" both on the phone AND through days of back and forth e-mails.Firstly DO NOT expect the person on the other end to know sweet diddly about.....well,anything( I went through about four different people with no difference). They all want YOU to work for THEM by creating a so called 'debug log' and send it to them, who in turn will pass it on to their tech department. They will tell you that they will analyze the data and get back to you within (first day, actual answer)"three hours" or (second day)"before the end of the day" or third day, well you get the idea. They never did get back.No amount of pestering by phone or email could get any concrete answers.
One of the last things I was able to get from one operator was that there appeared to be no apparent conflict on my system but they didn't know what could be causing my problem and they were still working on it.
I eventually had to get off the "merry-go-round" and give up.
In the end it screwed my system up so much(with so many installs and un-installs and taking out other unrelated programs to see if they would have any effect good or bad) that I had to eventually wipe my hard drive and start fresh. It is now back functioning the way it was before, and the "problem"?.....well I guess PC-Cillin is still "working on it".I have never heard back. Some "support" eh?
I phoned Amazon and explained the situation and they graciously,as ever, offered a refund on the product.I have indeed taken them up on the offer with many thanks and returned the product.
In conclusion if you have a Win/98 system I would advise EXTREME caution if you intend to get this product. Not only for what the product has done to MY system and could do to yours but for the deplorable LACK OF SUPPORT for the product.Due to this very unpleasant experience I will NEVER buy or use another Trend product ever again.
As for others with Win/2000 and higher? I honestly cannot say whether it will or will not work on your system but please for your own sakes be absolutely certain before you purchase this.Better safe than sorry.

good features, but can't access them 2006-03-23
I installed PC-Cillin and when I tried to do anything with the configuration interface, got the message "The Feature is still loading. Please, wait a moment and try again." I waited and waited. I rebooted, twice. Same message every time I tried to Scan or Update or View Logs, etc.

Trend Micro Tech Support said this is a known issue. They had me download a new installation package, uninstall, reinstall, etc. etc. Same problem. Waste of time.

Is it just me or have software vendors completely lost their pride?

awesome product 2005-11-01
I havent had any problems with this so far. I was looking for something better then Norton and a friend recommended this to me. I am glad I listened. Norton was letting virus's in. I got my Trend Micro, uninstalled Norton, installed Trend Micro. Easy. It saved a new computer. It keeps my kids from seeing inappropriote sites, wont let an infected e-mail threw or a bad page load. The only thing I dont like is it wont let you set it up completely for Outlook Express, you need a newer, better version. They need to change that to work with all versions. I did get a $25 rebate which was more than I paid for the Trend Micro so I made a few bucks off it. Woohoo for me. Im not complaining as of yet. So far, its working wonderfully.

DOES NOT SUPPORT MSN!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2005-10-30
Okay, so I have my box this software came in all cut up to get the rebate, the rebate info is sent off, everything seems fine, when I discover that there is no anti-virus interface with MSN. I was playing with the URL filter and discovered that it did not work with MSN. At the time, not knowing that the program did not support MSN, I attempted to email tech, they sent 3 emails stating they were on the case but no answer. After 2 days, I called them and spoke with a customer service rep who told me about the MSN problem and directed me to the system requirements on page 1-6 of the owner's manual, and sure enough, MSN was not listed. I really think that systems not supported by certain software should be listed before buying. I also am not pleased with Trend's tech support.

Buggy 2005-10-20
I purchased as a result of a top rating by some PC magazine as I tired of the charges and bureaucracy of Norton. I had high hopes. From the beginning I had trouble. TO install I had to wait a few days to get a new registration key (the one in the package was already assigned!!). That took a few days to figure out. After that there has been ever since difficulties in getting and installing new dat files. I'm currently working over the past week on a new outbreak of troubles. My old NAV2002 may have caused the computer to slow down, but I never had problems. I doubt I'll keep this much longer. Although I must admit, I don't need to wait too long for assistance over the telephone.

Excellent Product 2005-09-20
Trend Micro Internet Security Suite is the best I used to this date. Configuring the program took awhile to figure out. Once I figured out how to block all the pop ups from the program (Virus Outbreak Warnings, the updates) it works perfectly in the backround for what I need it for. According to other websites, it is rated top of the line among users plus the editors compared to the top leading Internet Security Suites (Zone Alarm, Nortin, and McAfee.) I would recommend this product to everyone! Keep up the good work Trend Micro!
