The Lightsabor for a Disapointed Kid 2005-10-20
At first when I saw the lightsabor, I was really exited thinking that I would be able to be just like Darth Vader because I got a Darth Vader helmet, which works well. The main attraction with this lightsabor was the way it came out and retracted back in. Unfortunately, it did not lock in place like the company promised. Overall, I was really disappointed in the lightsabor.Don't Buy, you'll be sorry.

Star Wars birthday gift 2005-09-07
My son loved getting this for his birthday! Made him feel like a real Darth Vader.

Cool , Durable, toy. 2005-08-11
I like it very much i can play with the kids, hit very hard,
the lightsaber stays as good as knew very durable.

light saber 2005-08-09
No lights, handle not realistic, and the release mechanisim for the telescopic saber completely useless.

Wasted my money on this one, although the price was not too much, hence you get what you paid for it.

Best Value, Durable, Better than Electronic Models 2005-05-31
My two children, husband and I are all very happy with the non-battery operated line of Hasbro lightsabres and we own four different models, this is one of them. We had first purchased the Hasbro battery operated light sabers and were not happy with them. If you are interested in my review of those different, more expensive toys, see those items to find my review.

The red lightsabre with the straight handle is used by Darth Vader, and Emperor Paletine. (Count Dooku's has an angled handle and is a different model than this one.) The red lightsabers are only used by the "dark side" characters; the Jedi have different blade-color lightsabres.

These less expensive and more durable light sabers are my children's favorites and preferred by my husband and I for these reasons:

a. They are more lightweight than the electronic models and therefore are easier to carry and easier to grip/hold with one hand.
b. The blades fully retract into the handle (just like they do in the movies---the electronic models don't do this) and they LOCK in the closed position so they don't fall open while carrying or wearing them.
c. The lock is easy to operate; you hold it down and flick the blade to extend the "laser blade".
d. When flicking it open, it takes just one quick flick to extend the blade completely open, and even children aged 4 can do this with one flick after a few practices.
e. It closes very easily. My children prefer to push it (gently) into the ground or into the floor to close it.
f. The built in clip works well to clip the closed unit onto the waistband of the pants, a pants pocket or a belt. Due to good design of the locking mechanism, the unit stays closed/retracted while worn in this manner.
g. The lack of electronic components and light bulbs allows for rougher play and not worrying about breakage while using it in lightsabre to lightsabre clashing together play.'
h. You won't have to replace light bulbs that can break in rough play (as the other models have).
i. There are no sensitive electronic components to break if it accidentally gets wet or left outside and is rained on.
j. At this low price we can afford to buy a couple of extras for visiting children to play with.
k. All of the blade lengths are of equal length allowing for safer play (unlike the electronic models).

Our family recommends that you buy non-electronic models and buy some extra for friends to join in with imaginative play while they are visiting you!

Love this toy, but rated educational value as 1 as truly there is not much educational about this toy. I have no problem with this being non-educational, though, as my children have other venues to expand their education! Imaginative play is very important for children as is "unstructured free play time" and this falls into that category.

Disappointed 2008-03-22
I bought this toy for my 4 year old son who enjoyed playing with it for a day. We made a mistake, as we thought we bought the one that lit up as well as made lightsaber sounds. This one doesn't, but for the same price! This is basically a plastic cone that does not "spring" out to form, nor does it retract back in place (the cone gets stuck every time.) This was a waste of money, my son has more fun with sticks in the yard.

Great toy 2005-11-25
It's a very nice and sturdy toy. But not even close to electronic toys for a number of reasons. Here they are...

1-They do not make cool noises and light up.
2- Now electronic lightsabers on amazon cost the same as these non electric ones.
3-They are much to small.

This toy is Great but i recommend you buying an eletric one...

Does anyone remember........ 2005-11-06
Does anyone remember back in the days (when we were young or not so young) during the holiday season how after wrapping holiday presents, one would anxiously wait for the wrapping paper to finish so one can take the inner tube and play sword fights. Well no more, this wonderful sword is truly remarkable. Forget the silly folks who say it is childish. It is no different from dueling back in the days only obviously it is safer. It builds a sense of timing, rhythm, technique, confidence in ones' abilities and above all it is great role play. These durable, safe, fun swords are made of plastic and alot more durable than the paper tubes or anything you can think of. There are no lights, no sound, it is just plain fun and no need to worry about it malfunctioning or breaking easily. The first time i picked one up, I gave one to my three year old son and he dueled with dad. Needless, to say he won. Now he won't give it back to me. Pick one up, use your imagination. Use your voice as the sound effects of swords clashing and like in the star wars movie let your imagination take you far, far away.

THESE ARE AMAZING 2005-11-05
Alright everybody my friends and I are 16 years old. We play varsity football and have plenty of friends. We still play with swords and these things are amazing. Who cares if people call you immature. First we used wooden swords until one snapped and my friend had to go to the emergency room to get the splinters out. We then mooved onto PVC pipe but they were way to dangerous and they broke after about 5 battles, plus they were way to heavy. These are GREAT. They are light and EXTREMELY durable. They are strong enough to deliver authority in a battle, but dont give bruses or broken knuckles when smashed into another one. They are the best for swordfighting. Plus they are inexpensive so you can buy several. They are great educational toys because they teach quick reflexis and eye-hand coordination. Dont let people tell you that you are immature because you like to sword fight. These are great and i prefer them to anything!!! BUY THEM YOUL BE HAPPY!!!

There are better light-sabers out there 2005-10-26
I was disappointed to discover that this light saber didn't light up, or make that characteristic "woosh" noise. This is one item that I should have bought at a brick and mortar store so I could actually read all the features (or lack thereof) on the packaging.

Dora the Explorer Mr. Face Plush Backpack Dora the Explorer Mr. Face Plush Backpack
Review: My daughter is a big Dora fan and uses this backpack to carry around her favorite toys and books, which is why I gave it 5 stars for educational value. My friend's daughter has it as well, and love hers too. We've had it 6 months now and it's holding up just fine. The map opens up for an added bonus. My daughter likes to wear it and sing the backpack song from the show.
Star Wars Episode III: Darth Vader Voice Changer Helmet Star Wars Episode III: Darth Vader Voice Changer Helmet
Wow, do I ever wish they had this out when I was a kid! I bought it, and my wife, kids and I have all been playing with it. It has a chest box with several buttons that plays about 5 of Darth's quotes from the movies, or you can switch it to voice changer. The voice changer is fun! It has 3 different levels of depth for changing the voice. ... A must for Star Wars Geeks!!!!
