Died when I needed it 2008-06-08
I would estimate that I gave this battery maybe 20 charges.
It seemed to work fine, then last week when I needed it, it died and will no longer take a charge.

Might want to consider original equipment replacement battery if reliability is critical for you.

CTA Digital DB-NB4L Replacement Battery for Canon Digital Cameras 2008-06-07
I've used the CTA battery for a couple of months now in my Canon SD1000 camera and have found its performance (charge and camera function) to be the same as the Canon brand battery that came with my camera. And having paid about 1/5 the price of a Canon battery, I'm very happy with the CTA battery, not just as a back-up but as a primary battery.

Excellent Battery Replacement 2008-06-03
handy battery replacement. I bougth two, to never get lost trying to recharge it. I always get enough "shooting" time.

Bought this as a spare. It has more amper hours then the Canon battery. Used both at my daughters wedding and this one lasted longer. I would definately recommend it and you cannot beat the price.

Non-OEM Canon NB-4L Li-Ion Battery 2008-04-04
Great aftermarket battery. Longer run times (900mAhr v. 760mAhr) than OEM battery at about a sixth the price. Seems to work just fine with both the Camera and the OEM Canon Charger. Why wouldn't it? Don't know.

Canon is emphatic about not using anything but Genuine Canon Accessories because they may harm your camera or charger. Why would it not work and why would it harm the camera? I Don't know. I think it just hurts their sales and profits.

There are lots of other aftermarket NB-4L's out there, all deliverable for but a little more than $10. So why would anyone buy a Genuine Canon Battery and how can Canon in good conscience sell their's for 6 times the price? (or about 4 times on Amazon). That is the real question.

It is Cool. 2008-07-18
This is a cool battery, works fine, just as a regular one. And it costs only 6 bucks.. very cheap. highly recommeneded.

Good for a while; then rotten for the rest of the time. 2008-07-15
I bought the CTA Digital DB-NB4L Replacement Battery at the same time that I purchased my Canon PowerShot SD1000 with its original OEM NB-4L battery. For about one year, the CTA Digital DB-NB4L held a fair amount of charge and I could use it for about 1/2 the photo shots that I could with the Canon OEM NB-4L battery. After a year and a half of using both batteries on a constant basis, the Canon OEM battery allows me to take about 400 pictures before it needs a recharge. However, the CTA DB-NB4L Replacement Battery only allows me to take about 18 to 24 pictures before it needs a recharge. The CTA Digital DB-NB4L Replacement Battery is inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. I am going back to buying a Canon OEM NB-4L battery. I'll be using the CTA battery as a small paperweight.

Great value, ok battery 2008-06-13
I'd give this 2 1/2 stars if I could! For me, 2 1/2 stars means ok.

I bought this battery about a year ago. I never scientifically tested it, but it lasted as long as my canon battery at first.

I've noticed recently that it hardly holds a charge now.

I do use my camera a lot (Our fist baby was born about a year ago too!), but the official cannon battery has lasted just fine. I leave one battery in the charger and trade them when one goes dead, so I use them equally.

Now I'm not saying this is a horrible battery, and I still think it's worth it. I'm actually buying another one! Considering the fact that the official canon battery is 4 times the price, I still think it's a good value. I could be wrong, but I don't see how the cannon battery will end up lasting 4 years!

If you can deal with buying a new battery every year, this seems like a good deal for a secondary battery.

Very affordable! 2008-06-12
The only reason that it didn't get 5 stars is because I haen't had it long enough to determine if it will last a long time. So far it works fine, just like the original cannon battery. It charges good, I didn't time it to see how long but plugged it in, and let it run its course. I bought another kind of replacement as well and cannot tell the difference between it, this one, and the original. So it gets two thumbs up! There are some other batteries on Amazon for way cheaper, like less than 2 bucks, but the shipping on those is way more expensive than this one, and they all work the same to me. Love this little guy! (I actually bought two so now I have three batteries and almost never seems like I am charging anything! Great for traveling when charging is not convenient!)

Canon Replacement Battery 2008-06-10
I wasn't sure of the battery life so I bought an extra one. Although I don't think I will need it for some time, it's nice to have and well priced.

Review: ... "Click! The No Nonsense Guide to Digital Cameras" is misnamed. It covers a lot more than just cameras. In a couple of hundred pages, it includes using a scanner and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 to rescue faded, damaged family photos, the basic guidelines to good picture taking, how to use Elements 2 to improve your digital photos, and how to print and preserve your pictures for the ages. White, the author of the bestseller "How Computers Work," knows how to pack a lot of helpful, understandable information in a brief no nonsense book.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."

The fact is a camera’s megapixel rating is only a measure of how many pixels (photosensitive sites) an image sensor has…. An image sensor is simply one component of an entire system that produces a digital photograph… So resist buying into the megapixel hype when you’re choosing a digital camera. From Chapter 1
