Doesn't live up to the hype

I am less than satisfied with this product. One month after restoring our 20-year-old butcher block island counter top, the finish is wearing thin. That is unacceptable.

I followed the label instructions very methodically, and ended up applying three coats. It was not until the third coat that I noticed a nice, uniform surface, which looked like our `wooden salad bowl' that I was using as a reference. After the 72-hour cure and steel wool treatment, it looked fantastic.

History and additional comments: Our counter top was in desperate need of refinishing. The block itself is not solid, but rather several pieces of wood that were assembled with compress fitting (correct term?). Overall, it is a very nice block, but probably did not have anything done to it since the house was built, 1983. In addition, probably 95% of the original finish had worn off. We had been cleaning it with soap and water, and I used table salt and a lemon to pre treat/remove a few stubborn stains before I bought this product. Per the instructions (although it took me several hours of block sanding with 180, then 240, and finally 320 grit paper), I went above and beyond what it took to prep.

Finally, while the instructions are quite clear and straight forward, there was one exception: the label indicates steel wool 4/0. Maybe that is the proper description, but I had to ask a hardware clerk, as I could not find 4/0. He said in reality what was meant was .0000

The Salad Bowl Finish was so easy to use and the results were amazing. I would highly recommend it to anyone. I used it on my butcher block kitchen island and the results are great. GREAT PRODUCT!!!
