this does just what it's supposed to. the price is reasonable and the quality is good. in particular the rca connectors are very solidly constructed. the only thing you might want from it is a slighlty longer cord.

This product performed just as it said it would. I had tried the headphone jack to stereo connection with poor results. This product is a little softer volume than CD, but when turned up a little extra the quality of sound is as good as my old stereo seems to pump out these days. The product works without surprises, as it said it would, so thumbs up from me.

The wisest decision, and most frugal, too 2007-08-29
This little device is perfect for hooking up my nano to my home stereo, and I could not be more pleased with its simplicity and quality sound. It came in the mail today, arrived four business days after my order was placed. I had been debating how to get all my iTunes music out of my computer/iPod and out through a pair of living room loudspeakers: I debated doing AirTunes or something wireless, even almost bought the Apple Hi-Fi. Both either too convoluted or too expensive. But for under ten bucks, this simple insulated wire has brought me great sound, and it is truly plug-and-play. Best of all, my 1986-era Sony STRAV-850 had a VIDEO 1 F/R input on the front of the unit, didn't even have to fumble around the dusty back of the unit groping for the correct input. Was listening to room-filling music instantly! Sounds nice and clean, and since volume is controlled thru the reciever, I expect to be able to get long battery life from the nano. Great product, fits my needs perfectly, now it makes my 5-disc CD carousel changer obsolete!
Well made and cost effective solution... 2007-08-06
What do you say about a wire? It is very well made, with quality connectors on each end, white in color to match the iPod motif, and it works. The wire is reinforced at the connector ends to guard against premature wear. I use my iPod not so much as a portable player but as the 'mother of all remote controls,' attaching it by this cable to my stereo and dialing in my tunes from the comfort of my easy chair. If you tend to use the iPod as I do, this cable is a very cost-effective solution. There are other solutions out there. I tried one by Kensington that included a dock for line-out transfer and recharging, which included a remote control. I now use it only to charge the iPod, because the output was noisy and deeply attenuated. All that remote-control infrared stuff was the culprit, introducing noise into the signal. Besides, the idea was dumb. Using a remote control to control the player from across the room means you can't see what you're selecting so you have to walk up close to the player which defeats the purpose of the remote control. This simple wire brings the iPod close to you, connects it without hassle to your stereo, and gets the job done, elegantly and well.

Product delivered timely and was unopened in the original packaging. The cable link works well for playing my 4th gen iPod on my stereo. A very simple way to play Ipod's on any receiver. Just plug RCA cables into any audio input, change receiver to that input and plug in Ipod and turn it on. I was listening to music in less than 10 minutes!

If it charged my iPod while connected, it would be perfect. Still, I do notice more than a subtle difference in the sound quality compared to links that use the headphones lack. Good construction and works great with my 60GB iPod video without having to remove my Speck ToughSkin.

Perfect for what I needed which was to connect my new iPod classis to my old school Sony receiver. I connected to RCA tape and it works just as described. Very good solution. I don't expect it to charge my iPod because my receiver does not provide power.
Major flaw: no power input

Without a USB connector or DC input, this connector guarantees that you'll drain the battery in your iPod. While there are many car chargers available for the iPod, they're useless to you because this device occupies the dock port.
So forget this for road trips, long parties, or any other use that'll exceed the often-short life of an iPod charge.
And remember that once you kill the iPod's battery, you'll have to wait hours for it to recharge.
