The suction cup mount that came with the Garmin worked great at first, but as the hot weather of summer came on the mount wouldn't stay on either windshield (2001 Jeep Cherokee and 2001 Audi A6). This mount is great for my wife and me because it doesn't rely on suction and is actually easier to move from car to car. I haven't had any problems with is sliding around on the dashboard of either car. I wish they would have included it with the Garmin in the first place. The only downside I've found is that the screen ends up a little farther away from my eyes with the dashboard mount and it's already a pretty small screen.
It doesn't like bumpity, bump highways.

When I received this mount I thought it was great, until we took our first trip with it. It sits on the dash of our Volvo S80 fine, and it stays put on smooth highways. But as soon as you get on a rough highway, like a concrete road with uneven expansion joints, the constant bump, bump, bump will cause the mount to start walking down the dash. On a couple of occasions it actually fell, and luckily my wife caught it. We finally wedged a paper clip in a joint of the dash, slipped the mount over the clip, and that held it in place....but it shouldn't need that. Also, it doesn't sit on the dash of my old (1991) Ford F150 well at all, but that's an old truck and I expect the dash of newer trucks may be larger and flatter. Otherwise it's fine and I'll probably keep it because the original suction cup mount didn't last long before the rubber cup tore. I really don't want another of those.

This product is a must have especially if u live in sunny florida. It will prevent ur garmin gps from being damaged by falling off ur windsheild in hot weather, suction cups just don't work at high temps

Windshield mount didn't stay stuck to my windshield and the adhesive did not stay stuck to my dash - so tried this and it works great

This product is exactly what I was looking for. I move my GPS between several cars and while using the provided suction cup I had to contend with the smudges all over the windshield. This item is as simple as they come and it works perfectly.

When I purchased my 1st c340 a couple of years ago, I looked for options other that the suction cup on the window. I found it--this contours to any dash I've used it on, doesn't slide, and takes seconds to setup the GPS. I purchased another one for my 2nd GPS purchased-- I wouldn't use anything else for a mount...

After buying a Garmin C340 GPS and having it fall from the windscreen too many times, I had to do something. I had heard of various mounts that would just sit on the dashboard and prevent the GPS from bouncing around the car. I looked at some of the generics but finally decided on the OEM version. It has worked. The dash mount does slide around a wee bit, but it is something that can be handled. The mount is obviously bigger and heavier than the windscreen mount that came with the GPS - and less portable - but it does the trick: it keeps the GPS in one basic place. I thought the cost was a bit pricey, and now I have two sets of power cords, but all-in-all, it is better than the GPS from falling from the windscreen at the most awful moment.

Product permits GPS to be placed in the most convenient position on dash. Also doesn't leave telltale ring from suction cup on windshield, which reduces chance of break in and theft.
