It works!

We have a full-size regular antenna mounted in our attic. When I got the new converter boxes (Zenith 901) to adapt our TVs for digital signals, I could only pick up 4 1/2 of the normal 8 stations we got on analog. We are only between 17 and 20 miles from all the transmitting towers, but there are a lot of hills between us. Someone on an online forum suggested I get a Philips Silver Sensor, but then I saw many more positive reviews for this Terk model. I took a chance and ordered one Terk to try it out, suddenly we went from 7 digital stations up to 15-17 digital stations depending on the weather. I was thrilled, and ordered a second Terk for our other TV. These things really work. And, since the Zenith 901 has analog pass-through, for now the stations that aren't up to full-strength digital signal yet and cut out sometimes, come in much clearer on analog with the Terk than they did with the attic antenna. A double win all the way around!
Fantastic indoor antenna

This is far and away the best indoor antenna I have owned. I have owned 3 different types and with most I could get 5 or 6 digitals channels but with maybe a 80 to 85% signal strength at best. On this one I get 20 digital channels all at least 30 miles away and with signal strengths of 98%. Such a great antennna I am ordering another one for my other HD TV.
Antenna???

This antenna doesn't work, I send 2 back. Dont' buy it waste of time and money. It looks good but can't perform, if you are look to get an HD antenna
get this one "Antennas Direct DB2 Multi Directional HDTV Antenna" nothing fancy works great.
Great indoor antenna

Bought as a replacement for an older Terk. Improved reception from older version. Gets more channels. Clarity is wonderful. Only downside is I live on a highly traveled road and there is some interference which results in "no signal". Overall great antenna for being 15+ miles from most stations.
INdoor Antenna HDTV

Antenna was received promptly and in very good condition. The price, I thought, was a little high for the product. The amplifier has to be installed close to the television.
I am receiving signals up to 100 miles with the antenna sitting on top of the TV. The pull out radio type antenna does not seem to have any signal gain whether they are stowed, fully extended, in vertical, or horizontal position. The UHF part works best in the horizontal position.
I can receive more channels, with better quality, on the butterfly antenna mounted on top of my RV, while under a large oak tree, than on this antenna.
However, this antenna would work satisfactorily if I had been closer to the TV stations. Probably would work great under 50 miles.
Great Antenna

Great antenna. Easy to set up. I immediately received more stations than with my venerable older Radio Shack antenna. Most importantly, the digital PBS stations in my local area suddenly came in with a solid signal instead of constantly dropping out.
The only two things I would like to see changed is, 1. The base of the antenna is too small. I have not had any issues with the antenna tipping over but I would like to see the base larger anyhow. 2. The switch for the power boost is in an awkward spot; on the fixed cable that comes from the antenna and runs to the T.V. I would like to see the switch on the antenna itself.
I don't know if this will matter to anyone but I will throw it in anyway, this antenna is attached to a Samsung HDTV.
One more thing, Amazon was the least expensive retailer I could find for this antenna. Other stores wanted up to $75 for this model.
Not necessary

My only concern is people seem to believe they need a special antenna for receiving HDTV. Antennas are passive resonators. Typically, the larger the better. If you're in an urban setting, a directional antenna such at this Turk is preferable to reduce ghosting. However, in reality, there is no technological change between a HDTV antenna and an Analog antenna.
With coax cable screwed into the back of your TV, hold the wire of the other end with your fingertips, and point your arm in different directions and notice the changes in your TV reception.
I bet you didn't know your own body was HDTV digital signal ready did you? That's because these antennas are mostly marketing scams.
Excellent Digital Choice

I have lived for years with two rabbit ear antenna connected to an amplifier and have been rewarded with 2 channels of barely watchable analog quality. Using that antenna setup with a digital converter Zenith 901, I received 9 digital channels with good strength. During a baseball game, the signal was lost a few times, so I nervously ordered this antenna. I now receive 10 digital channels at very good strength and 2 stations at good strength, and the ugly outstretched rabbit ears are gone.
excellent performance

This antenna provides superior picture quality for over-the-air HD stations. I haven't even bothered to use the rabbit ears since there are so many stations now broadcasting in HD.
Works Well, But Amplified??
2008-07-20
I don't have HDTV now, but needed better rabbit ears for the TV without cable. I thought it wise to get this HD model for the TV I "wish" I had and I'm sure one day will. This antenna is with a TV on a digital converter box. I now pick up an extra channel (from L.A.).
But as far as the amplified part goes, I've tried switching it off and don't find any noticeable difference. I live in an old house (1925) with one outlet in every room. So with this Terk, converter box, DVD, VCR, and the TV, that room has WAY to many wires.
Buying this has made me realize how dependent (plugged in) we are on electric power. It seems when we plug in, Nature, The Natural World, pays the bill. I'm trying to use less, as we all should, or at least remember that our electrical supply system we have now, is unsustainable i.e. nonrenewable.
That said I'm off to a cave in the woods. lol
