Works well 2008-07-09
The VoSKY Internet phone wizard for Skype works well. I did have problems with settings and sound that others have mentioned, but with much patience I eventually found that the issue was in my sound setup in the Windows Control panel sounds/audio settings area, and not really a VoSky defect. I would have appreciated better installation instructions with more guidance on dealing with the Windows Control Panel settings, and better tech support to talk me thru the issues lacking in the instructions would have been nice. I'm still not sure what I fixed with all the fiddling I did in the Windows Control Panel. The four stars are because the product works exactly as advertised with the Skype software available in June 08; that's really great, because I haven't been able to find products from any other manufacturer that allow Skype services to connect to a local wired phone network such as house wiring. The fifth star is missing because of the limitations of the manual and the appearant difficulty in reaching tech support, which I never got past.

Poor driver software and awful sound quality 2008-03-17
Despite several hours of trying, I could not get the driver software to work on the first PC that I tried to use the IPW on. I eventually gave up and tried on a second PC. This time I had more luck. The software worked, but I was very disappointed with the quality of the sound. When I used the phone, the other party could barely hear me. I could hear them reasonably well, but I would sound distant and cut in and out. The quality was not good enough to hold a conversation. Skype doesn't always provide perfect call quality, but I was able to get great sound quality on the same call with my USB headset so I was convinced that it wasn't Skype causing the problem. This was a consistant problem on all calls over a one week trial. I tried increasing the microphone level in the Skype options, but it made no difference. Overall, I found the quality of the software and the IPW its self unacceptable and returned the product.

Doesn't work on Vista 2008-01-03
This product doesn't work on Vista and after contacting Actiontec regarding this issue not only they ignored my messages, but when I browsed over the net for help, there was only a couple of responses from them one year old at least. Although this product is excellent running on XP, the lack of support and incapacity to keep up with current operating systems is at least unacceptable. If you plan to ever update to Vista, don't spend your money on it.

Loved this item 2007-11-28
Will recommend for anyone wanting to set up a Skype account. Item makes it so easy to use. The affordable of Skype to now add to your existing home network phone lines to simply use your regular phone ('s). Takes a little to get use to, but before long, you will be up and running like a pro. I will suggest to get a small computer with CAT 5 connection to hook directly into your router, and use this computer just for Skype phone service. Found a good cheap used Dell Optiplex on and online action that works great!!! It is used for a server only for Skype. I say these items will pay for themselves within 4 months of another VioP service I had.

Great Product, a few bugs 2007-09-15
This thing works great! The only issues is that occasionally the driver crashes and i have to disconnect and reconnect so that Win XP reloads the USB driver.

very good, feature rich product 2007-04-07

Not up to replacing land line 2007-03-22
I used the phone wizard with skype and my cordless home phone for several phone calls. A couple of calls went very well. Conversations were generally clear. But a couple of calls had interruptions in service and on two occasions part way thorugh a call I could hear the party I called but they could not hear me. I tried with and without a connection to my home phone line. The phone wizard worked most of the time but I wanted something to work every time so I returned it. I had previously used skype on the same computer with another product and did not have these problems.

Very poor quality and no support 2007-02-23
I bought the first device and while I could hear fine the person on the other end heard either a really bad echo or words were being dropped. I sent it back and tried another one with the exact same results. Contacted their tech support online and never received an answer. I tried both devices on three different computers with the same result. I can use a headset connected to the sound card with excellent phone quality so it is not the network connection. I would not recommend this device.

Sound quality could be better 2007-02-22
It works exactly as it is supposed to, but the sound quality is not that great. Initially, the sound quality for the people I was calling was awful (although I heard them fine, my voice was garbled to them). That was fixed by connecting the Internet Phone Wizard directly to my computers USB 2.0 port (as opposed to a hub or to a USB extension cable). However, even once I did that, I still hear a lot more interference than I do if I use a headset on my PC. The question is whether this product would work better on a newer, faster, PC. I doubt it, but you never know. I have a 4 or 5 yr old DELL Dimension 4400 running at 1.6GHz with 750 MBRam (WinXP).

The sound quality is poor enough, that for calls under 10 minutes I find myself opting to use the PC headset for better quality. If I am going to be on the phone long distance for 30 minutes, I use this box so that I have the freedom to roam around the house on my cordless phone, even if the voice quality does suffer.

Works fine 2006-11-10
I'm happy with the Internet Phone Wizard. I bought it so I could use a good cordless phone with it and not be stuck to the computer and it does that. One of the reasons I didn't give 5 stars is that you can't actually dial a number into the phone, which I knew before buying, but still that tethers you back to the computer when you don't have a speed dial programmed in. Another reason is that sometimes the caller id on the phone doesn't show the current caller but the caller before. The last reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is that sometimes after a call has ended, it will start ringing the phone for about a minute. These last two things are intermittent and really don't bother me. The first thing, as I said, I knew before buying so, on the whole, it works fine.
