Cheap and it shows.

Radio could not lock on to a very strong FM signal for more than a few seconds at a time. ANY movement broke the signal. Even when the signal was locked on to the reception and volume was not was useable!
don't buy

What makes a radio a 'Sport' radio? Does the mere fact that it will fit in your pocket or come with a terrible armband (which broke after 10 days) qualify? In my mind a 'Sport' radio must have one very important feature: a timing mechanism. Now while that missing feature makes me miss my old Sony, I don't mind it missing because if they had added it they would have screwed it up as much as they did the rest of the Radio.
I won't bore you with a long rant about a crappy radio which really isn't worth talking about which I only do in hopes of preventing you from wasting your money.
Lowlights:
When you take out the battery to replace it all your presets are gone.
Presets are a terrible pain to set.
It became increasingly difficult to change the station and volume requiring more and more pressure on the buttons each time.
Reception is pathetic. With my old sport radio I had extremely good reception around my neighborhood. With this 'sport' radio I get extremely good reception of 4 or 5 stations at once! When I listen to 100.9 I hear 98.1, 97.3 and 102.9 as well! Not to mention the all static all the time station.
On AM it is actually a lot better. The only other station that bleeds into it is the aforementioned all static station.
In conclusion... learn from my mistake and navigate away from this item immediately.
worthless armband

The radio works fine, but the armband is worthless. The sewing of the velcro is incorrect and does not attach!
The arm band is NOT sewn wrong!
2008-04-25
Many people have said the arm band is sewn wrong. IT iS NOT. (e.g. "The arm band was a puzzle, all the velcro patches were on the same side which would not allow wrap around strapping so I had to glue a patch on the opposite side at the appropriate location and it works like it should.").
I thought so too, at first. Then I figured out how it works and it is really easy to use and comfortable.
If you put the radio down on its face you are looking at the velcro band as it crosses behind the radio. Your instinct is to stick this on your arm and try to wrap the strap completely around your arm. If you do this, the velcro will not stick and you will think the product is broken.
Instead, grab the velcro band in the center and LIFT it up so it forms a loop. You can now see the back of the radio (in fact part of the radio forms about 1/3 of the circumference of the loop). Insert your arm into the loop. Now grab the end of the strap on one end, turn it back around on itself and stick it to the strap. Repeat for the other side.
The trick is to recognize that your arm touches the back of the radio. The velcro does NOT wrap 360-degrees around your arm.
Great little radio

Coby CX-96 stinks
2008-03-28
I had high hopes for this device--sadly it is useless. (One star is too good for this product. This system would not let me select zero stars) Thank goodness it was cheap. My first clue was the arm band--it was mis-sewn with the velcro on the wrong sides to meet properly. Not really a big deal, but Coby said I had to pay postage in and back to have it replaced! 2ndly and more importantly, the reception is awful--Almost shockingly I can't receive ANY radio stations (AM or FM) in Chicago and only a couple in Minneapolis, among others. I'd have more luck trying to tune in radio stations with my teeth wearing tin foil on my head. If it is a faulty unit, I will never know--the company wants me to again pay postage in and back to get a new one, though under warranty. That will basically cost as much as a new one, and I don't want to waste more money on a likely useless product. I will not be buying any more Coby products.
Believe the Bad Reviews

I purchased the Coby CX-96 to use for local broadcasts in my gym -- basically to hear the broadcasts from the TV monitors. I figured, despite the criticisms I read here, that it would be good enough for my purposes. It isn't.
My gym broadcasts on three channels. This unit picks up only one of these and it receives it over a wide range of its different digital channels. I'm still using it as the sound is okay and the one channel it gets is useful for me, I guess, but I am basically shocked that the product is as poor and ineffective as it has turned out to be. I've also found the arm band to be completely useless. It's not strong enough to hold onto my arm. If you tried to make a bad product, this would be it.
It's not a good value at any price. If you get one for free, you might consider keeping it.
Okay radio but runs through batteries super fast
2008-02-10
I initially thought this product was okay -- I had a hard time programming it without reading the instructions and my husband figured out the arm band "issue". However, I realized that having the clock on 24/7 meant it went through batteries super fast. I don't need the clock to be running in my bag, and I certainly don't want to be replacing batteries as much as it forced me too. Now I take out the batteries after every use, but then loose the programmable station feature. It is also not working super well at my gym -- but I don't know if that is due to their frequency issues, or the poor reception of the ear buds. I would not purchase this again. I miss my sony.
okay radio WITH LEAD EXPOSURE HAZZARD
2007-12-25
The radio is decent. It works just like its supposed to.
The arm band was obviously designed and constructed by people unfamiliar with the concept of wearing a radio on their arms. But it can be made to work by giving it a twist.
The ear bud headphones were useless, though. Good thing, too, since the package even says that "Handling the cords on this product will expose you to lead. WASH HANDS AFTER HANDLING."
