Editorial Review
Digital edge technologies used for creating, transferring, and listening to digital music has made the iPod and various other Digital Media Players the most popular portable listening devices around the world. Shure recognized that at the start. Highly demanding and critical listeners have appreciated Shure earphones. Shure's E4c extends that enjoyment even further. The cutting-edge industrial design of the E4c is a breakthrough in sound isolating earphone technology. Ideal for the business traveler and on-the-go audiophile, the High-Definition Driver with Tuned Port Technology delivers brilliant highs and extended bass that enhance your listening experience with your portable DVD, MP3 and CD players as well as all other audio sources. The E4c's in ear design works like an earplug to block background noise naturally. This enables you to listen comfortably at lower volumes-even in loud environments. And unlike bulky headphones utilizing active noise cancellation technology, no artifacts are introduced into your listening experience. Sound isolating earphones are also much smaller and don't require batteries. 60 inch cable length 3.5 mm (1/8) gold-plated stereo plug Although the E4c comes with an assortment of sleeves to ensure a comfortable fit, some users may want something even more personalized. In this case, we recommend contacting a hearing professional, such as an audiologist, to make custom-fit ear molds for your E4c Color - WHITE

Excellent and light isolating earphones 2008-05-22
I am in no way knowledgable enough to speak about the technical aspects of these earphones but I am able to speak as a consumer who searched for a long time to find the right ones. Found them!

They are light and the sound can't be compared to what I was used to before. In fact, I find that sometimes the sounds of the real world are inferior when I take my earphones off after an extended use. I used to own Shure SE210-K and the Shure E4C sounds superior to me.

I enjoy using these earphones on the plane because I effectively shut out noise of the plane and passengers - and also the tinny music noise coming from the cheap white iPod headphones from the person next to me.

The fit is excellent and the different kinds of buds provided gave me enough choice to find the right one for me.

Last, but not least, the white color is definitely a better choice than black. It goes well with any iPod and frankly, the black ones I used to own looked very unappealing on me.

My husband complains that I can't hear anything else around me when I listen to my iPod with these headphones. I say, mission accomplished!

Great product and service 2008-05-12
I don't know that I would pay this much for headphones again, but I am not at all disappointed with the quality. These earbuds sound great and are very crisp. There isn't as much bass response as some of the other earbuds out there, but at the same time, the balance between bass, mid and treble is almost perfect. I would recommend these earbuds to anyone in the market for a higher end listening experience.

A great choice 2008-04-21
I am a fanatic of quality sound. I`ve been searching for a long time till i get the excellent sound in my ears. The first step was finding a good mp3 player and finally found the answer in Sony nw a808. Then, once i got the player i needed the best earphones. Long was the travel my friends till i reached the shore. I explored many brands including a copule of sony earphones, sony ex style that came with the player, phillips, and senheisser cx 300. Finally i read several web reviews of this tiny earbuds , fantastic every of them, listing this earphones always between the best five you can buy. So i decided it worth a try and i bought them. Believe me when i say they are simply awesome. Well balanced sound spectrum, well defined trebles and bass, guitars play perfect and tambours too. You can hear sounds you didn`t know they were there. For those who are fanatic of more thann powerful bass i suggest they try to find another who play them that way- senheisser do that- but in my personal opinion if you want a perfect clarity of every sound and instruments you need these earphones, because an excesive bass may provoque a losing of quality of sound as i tested on previous earphones. I gave them a five cause they are the best i tested so far. I guess the e5 may be better-twice the money- but for the price i believe you won`t get anything better than these earphones. The delivery service was excellent , it arrived before the estimated date. No complains only thanks.P.S. They are no more E4, shure now names them SCL4.

Good sounding headphones 2008-03-22
I sold my Bose Noise Canceling headphones to buy these. They sound a heck of a lot better, and they block out enough sound so that I don't miss the canceling feature of the Bose.

Great 2008-01-27
These things are amazing. I looked for the best reviewed earbuds I could find, and these definitely hold to their reputation. I'm a musician and a huge fan of music so i like to think i have a decent set of ears for headphones. these are crystal clear, not in a dull disappointing way, theyre very bright and alive. I would have to say that the bottom end (bass) is lacking slightly, but that's mainly due to the fact that today's music has way too much bottom end in the first place. Rap still sounds good, very clear. In fact everything is clearer. Classical is superb on these bad boys. As is any acoustic type music. Indie/Rock, sounds alot better than average. Get these. they'll improve your understanding of the music you love.

good sound but not perfect 2008-01-12
Bought this set after reading numerous reviews. I do think that the newer generation dual-driver ear canal phones probably do a better job of producing rich bass tones. With the proper fit in your ear canal, and some bass boost applied from my Ipod equalizer, what you get is an amazingly detailed mid- and high-frequency response, without any glaring highlights, plus acceptable mid-bass frequency response. To give Shure credit, they give you a great set of sleeves to try to find the one which fits your ears best. Like most people whose reviews I've read, I found the yellow foam sleeves to work best.

Will Be Using the Warranty. 2008-01-07
For some reason the volume is not equal between the right and left ear buds. There is a distinguishable difference in amplitude, as if the left earbud has a short. Otherwise the tone is great, though deep bass is a bit lacking. I love the wide range of sleeves provided for best fit.

Good all-around earphones 2007-12-04
I first tried the Etymotics ER-4P and found them very honest, but too shrill for my taste. Sent them back and traded them in for a pair of the Sure E4c. I think the Sure isn't quite as accurate, a really good pair of speakers will beat them for picking out distinct sources of sound, but the E4c's have a good even response range that suits me very well. Nice base, you swear you can feel the thump in your chest. I think in-ear-monitors are very personal in fit, everyone's ears are shaped different, and you need a good tight seal to really hear what they can do. Getting that without sacrificing comfort can be difficult to do, but Sure includes a generous variety of earpieces for you to try to help find the right one for you. To reduce microphonics (picking up sound from the cords bumping against things), wrap the cords up over the front and top of your ear and down the back.

Reasonable product 2007-11-25
I like these but don't love them. I prefer the sound of my Koss KSC75s (especially when I place a slight pressure to them with my hands!). These cost one-quarter of the price, but I wanted some noise reducing phones to use at my gym (to drown out the crap they play there). I love the long cord and the angle of the stems on the body of the phones and the large set of covers that come with them. However, I wish they and other companies would pack more foam pieces as these always work best but are the least durable.

I have bought quite a number of earphones in my search for the ultimate sound - I should have just saved all the money and invested in the type that require a personalised earmould. BTW, I have Ultimate Ears super.fi 3 studios, and the E4c's are much, much better. This is true with respect to sound (they provide a much broader sound-scape, nicer bass and hi-end) and construction.
