Great product, and great service

This saw really slices through the wood. Works just as well as any gas powered chainsaw I've ever used. They shipped the saw in the original packaging, so It's not really packed well for shipping, but I got mine the day after I ordered and the box was in pretty good shape.(I'm not sure how well the box would hold up on a cross country shipement) The chain tension mechanism was defective on the saw I received, but here's where the great service comes in. I logged on to Amazon, and they pretty muched immediatley shipped me out a replacement, no questions asked, and they've sent UPS to pick up the defective saw. I ordered the saw Wednesday afternoon, it was sitting on my porch when I got home from work the next day. I used it Saturday, and then it broke. They shipped me a replacement on Sunday, and it's now Monday, so we'll see how long it takes to come in. Minus the defect on the saw, everything else worked great. What blows my mind, is I selected FREE super saver shipping, and I got the saw the day after I ordered it.

Better than advertised

I looked at the 24 inch stump and wasn't sure if the saw could handle it. I hoped it would but without destroying the saw in the process. I was amazed! It ripped through the stump and was looking for more. I am very happy with my investment!

good saw

I have had no problems with my poulan chainsaw. I have a five acre wooded lot in Oklahoma. It cuts limbs and trees down to ground level very easily. I have used up to 300 feet of cord without a problem. This saw cuts better than any gas saw I have used. I have used it to cut down oak and blackjack trees and it never binds or stops. I Highly recomend it.

Perfect...just what I needed

The 400E is exactly what I needed for around the house use. Powerful, easy to use and safe. After a few test runs on smaller branches, I was able to cut down and manage larger tree projects. The only down side to this the 400E is the less than clear directions. The novice chainsaw user will need to re-read the instructions a few times in order not to miss important details...not something most of us men want to deal with in life.

I was doubtful about electric vs. gas for a chainsaw, but I read the other reviews and decided to give electric a try. I just received this chainsaw yesterday to clear larger tree limbs that had fallen due to a severe storm. The chainsaw had plenty of power and was ready to go out of the box except for lacking chain oil which I got ahead of time since I had already read a review that mentioned the oil was not included. I did not need the 18 inch bar but decide to get it since the price was about the same as a 16 inch bar. I am glad I got the 18 inch bar since I now realize this chainsaw is only limited by the extension cord rather than the power of the chainsaw.

Wouldn't run

I probably received a return that was totally defective as it wouldn't start despite my reviewing all the instructions multiple times, checking my cord and plugs and because the box had been opened and the warranty card was missing. The other packing material clearly showed signs of repackaging. To Amazon's credit, they told me to keep the defective one (I guess it will do for parts, i.e. the chain) as I had already put bar chain oil in it and flammable material cannot be shipped back to Amazon. They are sending me out another one, which I should receive in a couple of days. I requested that they specifically check that it is new and unopened. Hopefully, they will comply. At any rate, my recommendation is to call customer service prior to ordering, ask them to make sure you are receiving a new, unopened box and not a return to avoid all the hassles, and wasting money on chain oil, etc. Amazon deserves 5 stars for their great customer service in mitigating this problem, but a -1 star for reselling defective, returned merchandise. I'm looking forward to using the saw as I read alot of positive reviews.

WOW- This is not a toy

Recently purchased this chainsaw to cut down a pine tree in my yard. It was up against the house and had the power lines running through it. This saw was very easy to use and use safely. Had to take the tree down branch by branch due to the power linesand house. If you have 120V nearby forget the gas.

Oil leak

After waiting about two months for delivery, I liked this saw until after a week or so I noticed that oil was leaking out of the bottom from where the two halves of the plastic casing join. I can use it, but when I store it, all of the oil leaks out. What a mess.

wood cutter !

Bought this saw to clean up some branches on our Oak Tree. Great saw, plenty of power. I went and cut a load of firewood. it has an excellent sight glass for the bar lube. You will need a good extension cord though. This Poulan runs circles around my neighbors Stihl. I think I will go cut some wood for this winter, Thanks Poulan !

Very powerful and a solid piece of machinary. Only it needs to be cleaned often and the tension adjustment could be easier.
