Does not work
2008-02-06
I purchased this item because of the good reviews it has received. It only works with my cable box. It doesn't work with either of the xbox platforms.
Great gizmo!

Okay, lots of high quality fiber optic audio sources (TV, satellite receiver, CD-DVD player, etc.) and only one stereo receiver/amplifier with one high quality optical input. What to do? Use this device.
This odd looking unit has 3 Toslink (fiber optic) input connections for 3 different sources and one Toslink output connection for your receiver (or whatever). Just move the switch handle to select the source you want to direct to the receiver. That's all.
Easy to install (no power supply), simple to use, works great and maintains highest quality audio signal. A real solution to a real problem.
Highly recommended.

I have issues
2007-10-15
I am a "tech" type of person but am not getting the desired results out of this splitter. I may possibly have my settings incorrect. This is my deal, I have a Bose Genesis 3-2-1 Surround Sound/DVD home theater. The Bose has 1 input for an optical source and I have that coming from my HD DVR cable box. I have no problems there. Initially I set it up to split the signal coming from my HD DVR box and my PS3 but even when I had my DVR box all the way off the Bose wouldn't pick up the signal being split from the PS3, even though it is light up red, so I know it's trying to process. If you purchase I wish you good luck, it just isn't a product I am recommending.
Great at first

As with others, I had too many optical sources and not enough inputs. this device worked great at first but after a while, I think it started attenuating the optical signal as my decoder could not detect a signal. I think the rotating switch is to blame...maybe it gets dirty over a few months.
Works and does not work
2007-09-13
Most of the reviews here are either great it works or bad it does not work at all. My unit was in between. It works for certain audio outputs. It works great from the xbox 360, the audio out from the computer motherboard did not workd at all, but then I added a new sound card to the computer it worked on that. IT does not work at all on the HD cable box. It seems to me that it may be the signal strength from the source that is the main factor, which if that is the case points to a cheap product.
Work for PS3 and TV outputs
2008-07-17
I don't know what kind of folks keep saying that this thing doesn't work but they're full of it. It works fine on my PS3 and my Samsung TV's outputs. I bought mine from along with 2 of these cheap cables from the same seller and it all works PERFECT.
I spent a total of $21 shipped including the cables from the seller Gadget Dweeb and it was the best price out there since everyone else charges an arm and a leg for shipping. http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/seller/at-a-glance.html?ie=UTF8&isAmazonFulfilled=0&orderID=105-3197471-1537046&marketplaceSeller=1&seller=A1MFU1H74X0UEH
Great Value and Very Convenient!

Great Value and Very Convenient!
This is a great product. The item arrived super fast and was super easy to hook up. And i have had some bad experiences with sort of product before. But it works great to hook up my DVD, XBOX 360, and PS2 to my reciever so i can watch movies and play games all in 5.1 surround.
The only thing i don't like about the product is its' design. It can take up a lot of space, and it just looks weird sitting on top of my receiver. I will it was more like a front panel box and everything plugged into the back. But changing the design would include adding a pc-chip, and then your price skyrockets!
For what this is, what it does, and how it functions, i would give it an A-.
Great item !!!!!I bought 2!!!!

I bought this because my Pioneer receiver only had one output!!!Works super!!!Can't find it anywhere else.Glad I bought 2.NO worries!!!
Digital Audio Optical 3 link
2008-03-10
The Toslink digital Optical 3 link was recieved via regualr mail, in a yellow medium .99 mailer. The only protection was that of the small bubble wrap in the orginial box. Looked new, I was worried that it might have been handled roughly, during shipping as it was not packed as should have been for the way it was built. For the cost of the shipping it should have been better. Item does work, but time will tell. I have it conencted to my Direct Tv, Toshiba HD DvD, Playstaion 3 and my Toshiba reciever to the DvD Optical side. No instructions, you have to snap each cable into the switchbox until you here a small click. Be careful, as the optical cables have to go in a certain way. The switchbox is not heavy, in order to switch you have to hold the device and turn the knob. For the price, not a big deal, 101 percent cheaper than buying a new reciver with three optical inputs. I have ony two on mine.
Again item is great, shipping/packaging can be improved...
Works ok for me

I haven't had any problems with it so far. Kinda cool how it's built even if it's on the cheap side. The pics make it look like aluminum but it's all plastic. Like we could get something billet like this for $20. I had one minor glitch the first time I fired it up but not sure if was this device or from the input side, but it has worked just fine at passing a signal since that time. Don't let the latch slam but let it glide into place. Another post mentioned turning on power to the cd/dvd/game device after selecting the new position. While I haven't had a problem switching this device with an input applied, it's probably not a bad idea. It's not going to make a difference with this component but maybe the device receiving the passed signal won't recognise it. The output side is permanently mounted but the fiber input side must be a piece of fiber and a connector that just rotates with the turret and then locks into place. Pretty simple stuff but I don't know how long it'll last. Stuff breaks dontcha know. Good enough for now. One thing I noticed while reviewing this device is that different pictures come up. The one I received was triangular in shape with a bluish/purple turret. The other pic is of a device almost square with the turret being the same color. Not positive on which one you'll get. Cheers.
