Construction Master Pro Trigonometric Calculator - Great!
2007-07-28
I am currently on my second Construction Master Pro Trigonometric Calculator. I started with my first when I was working in the construction industry and now that I have started undergraduate and a graduate program for Western Carolina University (www.WCU-CM.org)and have my own website ConstructionEducation.com, I recommend it to all the students. It is a great calculator for both estimating and surveying. Calculated Industries makes a lot of great calculators but for students in construction management programs, I think this model works the best for all required classes.
use it every day and love it...

took it a step further and attended a JLC class to learn the full functions of the calculator and have loved it even more since. Instructions are good but not great...thats why 4 stars...but it is learn able and the quick reference and strong build hold up to the job site...consider there tutor workbook available from there site.
Best way to add feet and inches

This is the third Calculated Industries construction calculator I've owned. I've purchased them because, to my knowlege, they are the only calculator available with these functions. As a residential designer I find it incredibly usefull for day to day calculations without the tedious conversions required to use numeric calculators. The ability to convert metric equivalents is also quite handy. Finally the Trig functions make this a fully capable tool.
As for disadvantages, the number entry is a little tiresome, to enter 1'6 1/2" you must press: 1, feet, 6, inch, 1, /, 2. But the pay off is worth while to get results in appropraite units. The other limitations of the calculator are the number of digits displayed, 7 is the most you're allowed to enter and it will give you errors if your result is greater than 8 digits. Also the Calculator does round, 13/16 divided by 2 equals 7/16, but we're only talking 1/32, but I'd rather see a decimal result in that case.
All in all the calc is super handy and has nearly allowed me to forget how to count by twelves and sixteens. It's the best solution until we all go metric.

If you are a Pro, and do a lot of framing, and estimating as I do. This is a valuable tool for you. I have come to depend on their calculators and you will too.
Best calculater for draftsman
2008-05-09
This is the forth calculator like this I have bought. One a different brand and the other 2 have been from Calculated Industries (Maker of the construction master pro) and this has been the best one so far.
I love it's ability to handle feet and inches, built in trig (pich/rise/run calculation) that way I don't have to remember the sign cosign and tangent and how to use them. Built in circular calculations, ability to convert between metric and imperial (feet and in).
There are several other functions that are cool, but I do not use, like the ability to figure stairs, figure a compound miter, ex.
If you are looking for a calculator for a job site, or as a draftsman in my opinion you can not go wrong with this one.
just what I was looking for

Does all that I need it to in a machine shop - a coworker bought one from a store and paid over $40 more!
Must-Have Tool...

I am a structural steel detailer. This involves creating detailed CAD drawings of steel, using Architect's and Engineer's drawings as a basis. I find this calculator an extremely valuable tool, allowing me to perform mathematical functions on fractional dimensions without the need to convert back and forth from decimal form. This particular model also includes trig functions which come in handy occasionally. I gave it four stars instead of five only because I wear out the keypad on one every two years or so. Wish they lasted a little longer....but this IS a well made product and highly recommended.

We do Steel Detailing and Calculators are an absolute in this work.
We have purchased several in the past few years and are very happy with this one.
It was delivered quickly and has been a work horse since we bought it with no problems with the calcuator at all.
Very nice people that sold this item through Amazon.
We highly recommend this calculator for anyone who has to have precise and instant facts, figures and info.
