They are actually a pair of weighted gloves!
2008-05-09
I actually received a pair of weighted gloves with the order eventhough it said one weighted glove. Amazon sent me an additional pair thinking that I would have received only one glove and charged me extra for the additional pair. Regardless, I gave the other pair away as a gift because I absolutely loved them. The palm of the hand is not covered with this glove and that helps tremdously during kick-boxing, etc.

These gloves were well worth the money. I could feel the difference in my workout. It is helping tone my arms while doing cardio.
Perfect Fit!!

These gloves are the ideal "Shadow Boxing Gloves" . Reason being is because they fit tight on the the top of your hands. Since you are constantly striking, other gloves tend to slide around making it difficult to keep on. These stay fit and actually feel like it is an extension of your fist versus gloves. Awesome Gloves!!

Stretchy, flexible shell with an iron-based sand (I checked with a magnet) in sealed pouches that sit above the back of the hands.
Pulling it tightly to fasten the Velcro tabs reduces the sand movement but is quite snug and I'm not sure if it would be suitable for very large hands; I didn't notice if there were other sizes available, but I have a medium-large hand and it fits me fine.
The Velcro closure, if not fitted properly may chafe the back of your wrist so take care in fastening the Velcro closure (I suppose if you slip in a thin breathable piece of cloth it will eliminate the chafing completely); I don't have an issue with chafing since I take a little extra time to make sure the tab is secure.
Though the sand probably makes the glove fit more snugly and possibly more comfortably than a solid core glove, the sand has a tendency to shift during use - hands tilted outwards or inwards for a duration makes the sand shift in that direction and punching with force shifts the sand just a bit. It is not really a big issue, I am just noting it to inform.
One pound doesn't sound like a lot for people that look at the number, but when it's at the end of your limbs, the force multiplies the weight. Be careful when using this for Tae-Bo or shadow boxing or aerobics or any other exercises that has your hands extended farther away from your body. It is not adjustable so you can't warm up with lighter weight, but working your exercises a bit slower should help alleviate stress from the weight.
Hehe, I use these gloves when I play Wii boxing along with exercising.
Great weighted hand gloves

These gloves are great! Very comfortable and just the right weight for use with my Turbo Jam workouts. The weight sits on the back of your hand instead of in your palm like some others. Not too big, not too small.

Great for kickboxing workouts!

I've had these gloves for over a year-and-a-half, and absolutely love them. They are perfect for doing my kickboxing DVD workouts and really add to the intensity. They also adjust nicely to fit a variety of sizes. I'm a 5'4" female on the smaller side, and they adjust to fit my hands perfectly and don't slide around while I'm exercising; they are very comfortable to wear. Plus, even though they get soaked through with sweat after my workouts, they dry nicely and don't retain any smell at all.
My package came with both gloves, and, if you look at the product description, it does say that it should come with two. If you end up receiving just one glove, I'd suggest contacting Amazon.
