Beware - Not for Windows Vista OS
2008-10-18
This camera produces unpredictable results under Vista. Sadly, they are the type you can spend much time diagnosing and attributing to something you may have done incorrectly, e.g. loading the wrong driver, not having settings for a video application specified correctly, etc. Creative Support provides a generic response that says "if you go to...you will find a Vista driver..." (beta since Oct 2007.) It will not work correctly, at least not on the two brands of notebooks I installed on.
When I installed on a Windows XP desktop, it functioned properly. However, unless you can buy at a steep discount (Creative offered for $20 recently), my recommendation would be to spend a couple of dollars more and get newer technology, auto-focusing lens, higher resolution, light sensing and adjustment, etc.
Does NOT WORK w/ certain computers

I have tried many solutions to work this webcam, and it still won't work with my laptop. It is not compatible with computers (laptops and desktops) using the ATI graphics card. After downloading the software, the USB device is still unrecognized. Simply put, JUST BUY A DIFFERENT WEBCAM.
Ultra weak

I picked up this webcam a while back and it seemd to work with no problem what so ever. It adjusted well to low light anytime I would use it in my office which was great. I don't think it is compatible with the new upgrade on IE6 since it started to act up after a few updates were done. I can see people that I am talking to do but they can't see me. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing it several times and still the same problem. I hated to loose it since it fits really well with my Hp laptop but after this problem I might switch to Logitech and try their version.
I went on-line to see if there are any updates for this webcam that might fix my problem but I couldn't even find any current updates for it...oh well.
Not for Vista - beware!

This webcam just won't work with Vista. I have searched high and low for a driver for this, but none of them do the trick. And to think I just bought this! The Logitech I bought several years ago has Vista drivers and works great, and Creative doesn't even bother updating the drivers for such a recent product. Should've known not to trust the short sighted Singaporeans. Swiss rocks! Avoid this if you plan on running Vista.

I was a little bit disappointed because the ads in the internet says that it is compatible with Windows Vista but it was not. I have to call the support right away to get the latest driver.
Works great .. unless you load the CD

The quality of picture is superior
2007-06-13
This is a very cute stuff regarding to the size and design. The quality of picture is superior duo to the Smart Face Tracking and , (the most important) CCD sensor, which allows experiencing superior video with vibrant colors, and sharper, clearer images than CMOS sensor webcams even in dim light;
The only thing I feel a little bothers me is the 76 degree wide-view-lens. It makes feature somehow distortion, though give you a field of view that is 50% more than regular lens. As a tool for web communication to the common user, I don't think wide-view-lens is really necessary.
Hit or miss

Unfortunately, I am one of those who are unable to get this camera to work properly. It seems that if you have an HP or Toshiba notebook, this will never work and it is useless to contact Creative for driver updates or for any help. Just return it or buy a different webcam. Also one poster said it may be due to the ATI chipset which both of my computers have so this may be true.
For those that did have it installed correctly, congrats. Now, I have to buy a new webcam. I've had success with Logitech products in the past so that's what I will get next time.
bad product, bad service, please don't waste your time and money!

this is a bad product at best. i have successfully and happily used a creative webcam in the past, but this one is beyond disappointing. i bought it for my 17 inch toshiba satellite notebook and after a couple of sketchy hangups i got the drivers installed. but upon connecting the camera, all i ever could get was a "usb device not recognised" error message. i went through all the hoops i could think of (and then some) but it didn't change a thing.
then a google took me straight to creative technologies OWN website message boards and i found out i was not by any means the only one experiencing this frustrating situation. not only would i warn people away from this product, a previously contented creative webcam user will NEVER buy from them again.
please save yourself time, frustration, and money -- buy a different notebook camera!
