This rice cooker is a piece of junk. We bought it to cook rice for two people and for use as a steamer. First of all it browns the rice on the bottom of the vessel and even if I try and anticipate when it's about to finish and stir the rice then the rice on the bottom gets brown and sticks together. I have followed the directions slavishly and tried it with reg.white rice, brown rice and uncle ben's rice and the rice on the bottom gets brown with all three. Secondly despite the title the device is not usable as a steamer and doesn't come with a basket.

The rice cooker is great and functions well. No complanints of any kind there. But in the design I wish there was a provision where the electric wire can be seperated from the body of the rice cooker, unlike here where it is attached in a permanent manner to the body of the rice cooker.It does not give the flexibility to detach the electric wire when not in use or when carrying the rice cooker, but always remains attached to the cooker.
I wish the makes panasonic takes a note of it.
Otherwise the cooker is great.
Wonderful rice cooker/steamer

I'd been in the market for a combination rice cooker/steamer for quite some time and finally decided to research and buy one. After reading the reviews posted on this product I decided to take a chance and was glad that I did. The price is great, rice is cooked excellent, steaming vegetables is easy. Very easy to clean. As stated by another reviewer let the rice set for a few minutes and there will be no sticking of the rice in the pot. You can't go wrong with this cooker/steamer!

Simply Great. I love the cooker since the day i bought it. Just plug in and there you go, rice is ready. No problems found so far. I already bought this product 5 years ago when i was a student and bought recently as i got it for a damn great price.

Cooks rice well as another cooker.
Best part is cleaning the vessel is very easy as the rice does not stick to the surface.

Decent rice cooker with limitations

Since rice being staple food for South Indians, we used this every day ever since we bought this a month ago. We enjoyed similar advantages that other reviewers mentioned. It works well if used for a max of 3.5 cups and use less water than generally used for cooking. There is some gap between the lid and the walls of the cooking vessel and so if used for beyond 3.5 cups, the water flows out of the cooker and creates a mess. Manufacturer should have provided a good rubber gasket to overcome this issue. This is definitely a disadvantage if you would like to fully utilize this for 5 cups.
Perfect 2007-11-09
I have had this cooker for 4 years now and I have no complaints. It works great. I use this for several different things and everytime I get perfect rice. The non stick just started to peel off and so I have to buy a new one. But I think 4 years is pretty long life for the cooker (I use it 2-3 times daily). I am thinking of buying the same cooker again

Our old Oster rice cooker stopped working only after use for 1 year. We were thinking to buy another band and several friends recommended Panasonic. We have used this Panasonic rice cooker for three weeks now. it works great. No spill during cook. My wife has been very satisfied with it.
