Does what it's supposed to 2008-01-06
I bought one to use on a new computer in our office. It wors perfectly. I was using a netgeat 1111 whatever on another computer and it was corrupting the Windows log-in software - so I purchased a second one to replace the netgear device and it works perfectly as well. No complaints - good price - I would buy another.

Works great - no complaints 2007-12-27
I have had the USB wireless adapter from Iogear for 2 months now and have had no problems. My Windows XP based Dell PC recognized the adapter quickly and started working immediately. The PC with the adapter is in a room that is about 50 feet from our router (with 2 walls between)and it has had no problems receiving a very strong signal.

One note for new users. The adapter has software for wireless networks that must be used to find and control links to wireless networks. The Windows XP wireless network utility can not be used with this adapter (or at least I have not found a way to use the Windows XP utility). However, the utility supplied with the adapter works fine.

Nice adapter, good value. 2007-10-22
With as many problems that wireless can have, this adapter was a sigh of relief for me. Installation was straightforward and I didn't have to spend a lot of time getting it to connect to both an Apple Airport Extreme network or a 2Wire modem. The UI looks somewhat antique, and I haven't quite figured out how to disable it. However, it works fine on limited accounts with Windows XP Pro and 2000 Pro if installed on an administrator account. On W2K machines, it (or the software) resets itself during user login making remote administration cumbersome. But, it's a good adapter and a good value.

Great purchase for the money 2007-10-15
I bought this adapter to connect my desktop machine to my home's wireless network, and I'm happy to say that it's up and running smoothly without a hitch. Unlike some of the reviews, my computer didn't crash, and I didn't have to be a techie in order to get the software to install properly on my machine. The installation instructions are lacking, but if you have the slightest bit of software installation knowledge, you should be able to figure it out.

The signal strength is great (95% right now), although my wireless router is just in the next room. For the price, I'd highly recommend this to anybody needing a cheap, no frills wireless USB adapter.

Poor signal strength and problem staying connected 2007-08-06
Bought this to be able to set up my mother's desktop computer about 50 feet away from the router (through 3 drywall interior walls, and we had a wooden fireplace shell installed on one way). Setup took a reboot or two before the software would show up and connect to the already working wireless network in the house.

Every 10 seconds, the adapter disconnects from the internet and reconnects. This is not a decent connection as both laptops in the house have full signal capability when in the same spot as this adapter.

To test it out, I installed it on my own desktop system in the same 3 foot area as the wireless router is. Not 3 feet away from the router, this adapter only gets 83% of the signal most of the time, but does not disconnect like it did on my mother's. Only occasionally have I seen it get above 90% signal strength and the router's AP is less than 4 feet away. Piece of junk. The only reason it got 2 stars is because of the price and the fact that it didn't disconnect on my own desktop.

Good product, spotty customer service 2008-04-25
Product 5 star - bad tech support drops the rating to a 3 star. Maybe a two star drop is rough since I'm now running but...

First the product - I found software install very easy with strong signal strength picked up from my Linksys router downstairs. My problem - WEP key encryption. I didn't know where to enter my WEP key code on the wireless LAN config tool. Hence I couldn't p/u the web even though I had a strong signal.

I couldn't find anything in the install directions. I sent email to Iogear CS with no reply. Phone CS is only Mon-Fri normal business hours. Plus, when I finally was able to call during the week from home, I was on hold for quite some time. But the CS rep who answered was helpful and I was up and running after about 1 minute of tech support.

So, here is where you enter your WEP key as I cannot believe I'm the only one with this problem.
1) Open the LAN config tool window.
2) Click more settings.
3) Click change and set encryption to WEP.
4) Then click WEP encryption key setting.
5) Click change set default key to #1,
6) Enter your WEP key value in #1 field.

I was logged on immediately. I hope this helps!!

It works! 2008-04-12
This adapter is pretty small like a regular thumb/jump/flash-drive. Roughly 2 1/4" x 1" x 1/4" including the usb end. It is currently working with my belkin wireless router and is really covenient considering I didn't want to open my cpu and install any hardware. The software could have been better though, it looks almost user-unfriendly, but it really have all the basic necessities used to configure the adapter. A newbie may be turned off by the software but as long as you can read, and know what to configure, you should be OK! No problems so far!

Horrible Software, Doesn't install 2008-03-26
The Iogear does not install properly - I tried installing this on three different computers, and it wouldn't instal AT ALL on two of them. On the third computer is works, but only with minimal usage. It makes the computer slow down drastically and even freeze. The software itself also isn't very good, but I do recognize that the software on these are generally poor, so this doesn't only hold for Iogear. Regardless, this product was a waste of time and doesn't work well at all.

Would be great accept... 2008-03-18
This product worked excellent practically right out of the box. It came with the software CD wich installed in under a minute along with the drivers for the USB Adapter. It worked wonderfully and was quite fast despite running it through a USB 1.1 slot. My only complaint and the reason for the loss of a star is the fact that its quite fragile. Somehow it ended up on the floor of my room one night and i woke up in the dark to get a drink, i felt a crunch as i walked across the floor. Sure enough in the morning when i checked it had cracked in half. It was a great deal though and i suggest it to anyone who can be more careful than i was. I prefer the adapter i'm currently using. for about the same price i got a netgear pci card adapter for the back of my desktop. That way it cant be broken as easily. All around great product. :)
