Excellent! Just one caveat... 2005-10-12
...be aware that these are TWO ohm speakers, whereas the standard normal impedance for car speakers is 4 ohms.

What that means is tha particularly if you have an aftermarket head unit, you will need an external amplifier to run them properly. Most OEM and about all aftermarket head units cannot handle a 2 ohm load by themselves, you risk damaging them without an amp. If you don't want to get an external amp then the Infinity Reference series would be a better choice, they are 4 ohms.

That said, I am running mine off a PPI pcx-480 at 160wpc and they sound great. If you are a basshead you will still need a sub of course, but for my tastes (instrumental & vocal jazz, classical, a little rock) these Kappas provide excellent detail.

My stock speakers (05 Camry) were muddy as all hell, they were full range speakers whereas these have their own external crossovers. I chose a 2-way over 3-way design because I think having one less crossover makes the sound more accurate and natural, that's always been my experience with home audio speakers.

UPDATE: a couple of months later, I regret not simply buying front component speakers (separate tweeter and woofer) like the Polks I have in my truck, there is no comparison---the separation of those 2 drivers yields a huge improvement in sound quality. I should have listened to the guys on caraudioforum dot com and bought front components and a subwoofer to run from my 4-channel amp and abandoned the rear deck speakers entirely.

great speakers 2008-04-04
I just replaced my stock speakers in my 2002 jeep grand cherokee limited with these. The sound is great; crisp highs, warm vocals, and lots of bass. I am not using the factory infinity amp to run these. I have replaced it with two alpine MRP-F300 amps. The sound, running off of the factory amp was better, but not great. that is to be expected with any after market speaker up-grade.

perfect stock replacement for bose premium 2008-01-19
Lots of squeaking about the fact that they are 2 ohm. If you have a factory bose premium sound system and are looking to keep the factory headunit you do want 2 ohm and these are the perfect replacements for the stock bose paper cone speakers.

Okay sound 2007-07-04
Not as good as I hoped only a marginal improvement over the factory speakers. Good for mid range sound, and acceptable sound quality for the low and high notes.Infinity Kappa 692.7i 6"x9" 2-way car speakers

Excellent Speakers...First Poster is Correct 2007-06-10
Infinity produces very high quality speakers to suit most situations. As the first poster stated, the vast majority of stereo head units and amplifiers are designed to drive a 4-ohm load, so unless you sure you have one of those rare units designed for 2-ohm loads, these speakers are not for you.

These 2-ohm Kappa 629.7i speakers are, however, a perfect drop-in replacement for those saddled with the Bose "Premium" Stereo Head Units and Amplifiers which are designed to drive the Bose Paper-Coned 2-Ohm speakers. Using 4-ohm speakers to replace those Bose speakers would result in uneven sound at best, far shy of the cheap Bose speakers when new. This 2-ohm design, on the other hand, is superior to the OEM Bose and perfectly matches the amplifier load. Highly recommended replacement if you wish to keep the head unit and amplifier stock, which can indeed produce good sound if matched to the proper speakers.

warning 2007-01-07
Do not listen to the information in the previous review. It is terrible information. Most OEM decks and factory speakers are 2 ohm, NOT 4 ohm. You do not risk damaging anything using these without an amp or with a factory head unit. Just wanted to clear that up.
