Good Data Media
2008-05-31
Bought 2 cakes. I've only burned data on these. No coasters(toasts) so far. 150 written to as of this posting. The cakes aren't the highest quality plastic for shipping and jostling around. One of the tri-tabs on the bottom snapped off in shipment and allowed the platter to spin off of the can.
First two discs bad so far
2008-05-30
Well, I just purchased this from amazon because of the great price. I just opened the package and so far the first two discs failed in the middle of the burn due to bad media. Hopefully I have success with the rest or this will be a bad investment. I read the other reviews and they were all good. But I have to give this item a bad review. I usually get maybe 2 bad discs per spindle, but I have never gotten two right out of the package.
Update: Third attempt to burn was a success.
No coasters yet!

Great price and I have made at least 20 DVD's and not had any coasters yet! Will purchase again when I finish using my first 100!
Not made by TDK

I bought my batch of TDK DVD+Rs in May 2008 and I kept getting coaster after coaster on these. So far out of 20 disks, 3 came out fine and the other 17 either reported a bad burn or refused to play. Maybe the next 80 will be fine or maybe I just got a lemon batch.
Anyhow, to settle the debate about whether TDK manufactures these disks, I used "DVD Identifier" application to find out the manufacturer of these DVD+Rs. Here is the application output:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD+R:DAXON-AZ3-000]
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc & Book Type : [DVD+R] - [DVD+R]
Manufacturer Name : [Daxon Technology Inc.]

As you can see TDK has nothing to do with these disks. According to this site [...], these are 2nd class disks. Buy at your own discretion.
Not the TDK quality you may be expecting...

I must agree with review of Tom S. These DVD+R disks are some of the worst media I've used. I have high quality Samsung drives in my system and never had a problem burning DVD+R media (well, maybe an occasional coaster). With these disks I get a failed burn with DVDFab Platinum on 3 out of 4 disks. This is absolutely ridiculous! Worse yet, even after a successful burn I am not guaranteed the disk will work in my Sony DVD player. If you are looking for TDK quality, look elsewhere. I suspect these disks are re-brands. I will avoid TDK from now on as they have failed to stand up to their once great reputation.

Product just as described at a good price with very fast shipping. I highly recommend this item. I will return for future purchases.
Great Value...Lousy 1 Star Amazon Shipping???
2008-07-04
Here's a total reversal of my, and I believe most of Amazon's reviews: A product review marred by AMAZON'S shoddy packing and shipping.
The discs are fine. Admittedly, I've only burned a few of them, but no problems so far, and what a buy for the money. Backed by Amazon's great return policy, they live up to the brand-name-you-can-trust theory of mail-order purchasing.
For the first time, though, the shipment (which also included a USB thumb drive)came in an oversized box barely filled with any packing material, rolling and rattling alarmingly. The plastic wrap around the bottom had managed to tear open and the spindle was partially spilled inside the box. The discs seem to be burning okay, and since the shipment was delayed by weeks (Amazon randomly allows some items to ship to APO addresses, yet not others resulting in slow ship times to a physical address)I was unwilling to repeat the process in case some discs were scratched. So far so good. Keep this in mind, though it seems to have been a one-off phenomenon. I hate to ding the product on account of the tangentially-related shipping experience, but otherwise it would've been 5 stars for this purchase.

I am extremely disappointed in this product. At least 50% of these disks fail to be written and produce an error message. I will not reorder again.
Good disks.

I recorded a movie on one of the disks, and it works fine in my DVD player.
Great Product

I have had no problems with these DVD+Rs. They are very sleek looking DVDs with little writing on them so you can hand write (not print) your own labels on them without a problem. I have used other DVD+Rs but they are always full of useless text, lines and designs that make it frustrating to write my own text. With these, there should be no problem in putting any length of text on the face of the disc.
