good quality 2008-05-08
Canon lide is really good, no matter which model. This one has basic functions, works well with good quality

Love it! 2008-05-01
Before I get too far into the review, I should mention I use my scanner for art related purposes. So I do a lot of scanning from sketchbooks of different sizes. I've wanted a flatbed scanner for quite awhile and I recently decided to buy this one. It seemed like a good deal and it was what i wanted. Before that I used an all-in-one device that really didn't give me a good scan. This one fits everything pretty well. The scanning software is good too and easy to figure out. It also seems to scan faster than the all-in-one device and doesn't slow down my computer usage. And I also don't have to plug the scanner in which is absolutely great since I already use the outlet by my pc for a multitude of things. I think next I need to invest in a surge protector. Overall I'd say I'm in love, even though I haven't had it very long.

Does not work with Apple OS 10.5.2 Leopard! 2008-04-28
This scanner works with my company furnished laptop under XP Pro service pack 2. It does not work with my Mac-mini under OS X 10.5.2 which is why I bought it. When I go to the Canon website it gives me the Mac download for OS 10.5.2 but it fails to install. When I called Canon Tech Support they said it was a Apple problem and that I had to become a "root" user to install it! That also did not work. They then said it was Apple's operating systems fault!!
The problem is the Twain driver is not recognized by the Mac OS. I had never had any problems with other third
party software installing. I do know Canon did not write this for Apple's Universal binary which OS X likes and uses. I cannot recommend this to Apple users until Canon fixes this Twain driver issue.

Happily Scanning 2008-04-28
I bought this scanner about a month ago around the same time I needed my computer system upgraded. I read some reviews that mentioned the software was difficult to install and there were some problems, but since I had a professional set everything up for me during my system upgrade I haven't had a problem.

I'm very happy with my scanner right now.

Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 disappoints 2008-04-25
I purchased and promptly returned a CanoScan LiDE 25. I was seeking only a basic scanner of good quality that would be relatively simple to operate. This item is low in the Canon line but I guess I assumed the name Canon would assure a high level of quality nevertheless. I was disappointed. The LiDE 25 is a very light weight unit - literally. It is almost toy-like in its construction and it's capabilities - it produced below par scans for me. I was replacing a mid-line Epson 1670 but the Canon was in an entirely different league and in my opinion is just not a good investment when you realize for a few more dollars you can have one of several other "real" scanners. Not recommended.

great little scanner for price 2008-04-25

Adequate but not Windows 98 compatible 2008-04-23
I bought at a retail store. With a salesman I checked the Canon website. The site and this add said Windows 98 compatible. My UMax 1200 scsi died and the Win 98 system it is on will have to updated eventually, but I thought this would fit the bill til then. After many emails back and forth to the company, turns out it is compatible starting w/ Windows 98SE, not Windows 98. The company was very responsive. I've loaded on my laptop w/ Win Me in the meantime. If you have a lot of items to scan, you may want to look elsewhere as this is pretty slow. The quality is adequate, color resolution greater than 300 dpi slows it down. If just an occassional scanner its ok. Does auto-cropping that my old astra couldn't do.

Great photo scanner 2008-04-21
I needed a photo scanner quickly for a family reunion and this was perfect. It shipped very quickly and was very easy to setup. The immediate results were impressive. It is very light weight and does not require a separate power supply, which I really like since this device will travel with us to other family reunions.

Not bad for the price 2008-04-21
The Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 is not a bad device for the price. I use it for scanning documents during mortgage signings and it is very clear.
Pros: clear image , it is very light weight. I place it into my case next to my laptop without a problem. It is USB powered. Very cool.
Cons: it is slow.

LiDE 25 Review 2008-04-21
I had rated it as 4 star, because it deserves it. This is the best price to performance ratio. It is very light and the setup is easy. One of the best thing is it is USB powered so no more power cords. If you are looking for a good scanner you should look no further and go for it.
