The best choice
2008-08-31
I bought this printer after using the Dymo Label Writer 400 for almost a year ago. Finally, tired of changing label rolls and, because the former is still working flawless, I decided to buy another Dymo Label Writer one. This one was the best choice that I found (I should have bought this one instead of the former I bought). It also started and continue working flawless as the first one.
Twin Turbo great but watch out if you have other Dymo printers

I wished to be able to print both shipping and address labels with out the trouble of changing out rolls of labels so I bought the Twin to complement my LabelWriter Turbo 330. I continue to have problems with switching between the three functions even using the drop down menu selection. I am using the twin for shipping labels and postage. All in all, I am pleased with this equipment as I have used Dymo for many years now.
Great for printing stamps and labels

I've been using this for 2 years now. It's been happily chugging along. No problems.
If you're looking for a scale go go along with it I'd recommend the USPS Postal Scale which is $65 at the time of this writing and it'll weigh up to 30lbs. Other options for scales weight 5-10lbs at $80+. If you're searching Amazon you'll want to search on 'usb postal scale' as it won't come up under 'USPS Postal Scale'.
It Just Works

I have a Mac-based home office and need to print only a handful of labels and postage each day. The Twin Turbo just works. Incredibly simple to install and use; incredibly simple to order new labels; incredibly simple to refill the postage meter. The included scale doesn't handle big or heavy packages, but I didn't need that and so didn't really care. Mac users - the software is very well designed, opens very quickly, and has worked perfectly on my Core 2 Duo (2.33) iMac (using both Tiger and Leopard).
Great Label/Stamp printer.

I had the Turbo 400 and it was great till I got tired of changing rolls. Ipurchased the twin turbo, now life is sweet. Love it. Wish it had an on/off switch. I may put in a line switch to solve this minor issue.
Perfect performance, easy installation.

The DYMO LabelWriter Twin Turbo offers the ultimate in efficient labeling. It holds two rolls at a time so you breeze through a range of labeling tasks, without switching rolls. The compact, quiet Twin Turbo is especially helpful for printing DYMO Stamps postage labels alongside address or shipping labels and for large batch printing since it automatically starts the second roll when the first roll is finished. This super fast and sleek printer fits anywhere on your desk and makes labels for envelopes, packages, files, barcodes, name badges and more - up to 55 labels per minute - from your PC or Mac. And now LabelWriter Twin Turbo also prints USPS approved on-demand postage with the included DYMO Stamps solution. No more trips to the Post Office, no more costly postal meters.LabelWriter Twin Turbo comes with easy to use software to format labels with text, graphics and barcodes, to manage address books, and to print DYMO Stamps. It's also easy to print labels direct from Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, WordPerfect, QuickBooks, ACT! and other software. The DYMO LabelWriter 400 Turbo uses advanced, super quiet 300 dpi thermal printing, which means great looking labels without any ink or toner, so no added cartridge or toner expense. Everything you need - printer, power supply, software, USB cable, User Manual and starter rolls of address labels and DYMO Stamps postage labels - comes in the box.
Love It!

I love the convenience of being able to print postage and address labels. It is especially nice not having to switch labels rolls. The address book feature is great. Once you enter a label you can just add it to your address book for later use.
neat gadget for your home office

i dont mail that much, but i still prefer a nice printed label to addressing by hand. although not really difficult, inserting the rolls is a pain, that why i would recommend anybody that wants to print labels and postage the twin turbo. plug ins for the new mac office 2008 are not out until march i was told, so basically its the included software which does an ok job, but is not really fancy or feature rich (at least the mac version). only giving 4 stars because the labels seem overpriced to me but thats probably the old razor and razorblade gimmick.
Twin label rolls make for convenient label printing

This unit was added to the single roll version of this unit which I have had for 3 years. Having two different types of rolls of labels is what I needed: one roll for standard ad hoc addressing of envelopes and one for custom postage stamp printing. I have only done a stamp or two, and this unit may save me some time -- prorated, it costs about 9 cents at today's label prices for a stamp label. That is in addition to your postage costs. And if you are buying this just for stamp printing, be advised that the vendor currently does not offer refunds for any stamps that may misprint or jam. You load up a credit with the vendor and once you buy postage, it is subtracted from you credit even if the label jams or misprints. But that is really not a Dymo issue.
This unit is quiet and FAST. No ink or toner means all you ever have to buy are the labels, and a roll lasts me quite a while.
Some of the features of this unit include being able to put in some really esoteric label sizes, but I just need the standard address labels.
I look forward to years of trouble free service from this unit. If you think you would not have use of a double roll unit, the single roll unit works just the same and is a bit more affordable.
Surprise - Better Read the Fine Print!

For my first attempt at printing postage, I tried to print $6.30 for a 7 oz. letter size envelope going outside of the US. Unfortunately, I discovered in the fine print that you can only print up to $0.90 for First-Class international mail unless you upgrade at a cost of $9.95 a month (more than my monthly average postage cost). At least the upgrade offers refunds for misprints which is not available on the free version. The response from Endicia support is as follows:
If you are using Dymo Stamps software, this is a free service and limited to these rates
Q: What type of mail can I print with the Dymo Stamp program?
A: See the supported postage list below:
Supported postage types:
1. First Class Letters (1-3.5oz)
2. First Class Letters 1oz oversized rate
3. First Class Flats (1-13oz)
4. First Class Parcels (1-13oz)
5. First Class .02 additional postage
6. Postcard rate
7. Priority mail 1 lb rate
8. Priority mail flat rate envelope
9. Priority mail flat rate box
10. Express Mail 1/2 pound rate
11. Intl. Airmail Letter 1 oz
You would need to upgrade to a paid account at $9.95 a month.
The InstaPostage software you would install would be the same, but has a 'make your own stamp' option to enter any amount. For Intl. mail over 1oz in weight we REALLY recommend using our full mailing product Dazzle or Endicia for Mac and printing to paper with a Laser or Inkjet printer, as these offer refunds for misprints and print customs forms. InstaPostage and Dymo Stamps do not support refunds for misprints or failed prints and Intl. mail is expensive.
