Editorial Review
A five-tier shelf offers plenty of easy access to folded clothes, shoes, boxes, hats and more with this custom closet organizing kit from Rubbermaid. The kit includes two 48-inch hang rails for easy wall mounting. With the hang rails in place, installing the rest of the kit is a snap. The kit easily fits closets from 4 to 8 feet in length without cutting any of the materials. The shelves and hanging rods are adjustable for up to 10 feet of hang space and 22 feet of shelf space. All pieces of the kit have a long lasting epoxy, satin nickel or chrome finish and will not stain or snag. With 8 feet more shelf space than the Rubbermaid 3G5900, this is the kit for wintertime sweaters, jeans, and other foldable clothes.

Would Buy Another!
2008-06-10
I have to say Rubbermaid has it going on! I had 2 Rubbermaid organizers and one Closetmaid organizer installed in my 16' closet, and Rubbermaid is the best, hands down!
I did not put these up my self, but my friend who did it said it wasn't bad at all. He did purchase different and more "heavy-duty" anchors and did not use the ones that were provided in the box since I have so much stuff to hide in the closet. I will estimate that both Rubbermaid organizers took him about 3 hours to put up. (That's with breaks.)
I've already changed some of the shelving, and it is easy with the unlock/locking system.
I couldn't find a better price than Amazon and the Super Saver Shipping makes it all worth it.
I recommend Rubbermaid for your closet organization needs!
Organized, but no space savings
2008-06-04
I had two of these in boxes for nine months before I finally got around to putting them up. Installation was fairly easy; I have average handy-person skills and installed two all by myself in two six-hour blocks, with many interruptions. I put in a lot more screws than the directions tell you to, just for added support.
This replaced a traditional long, shallow folding-door beam-and-shelf closet setup with several small chests of drawers and shoe racks on the floor.
The good - things appear much tidier. Clothes are more accessible. I think the tidy appearance will help whenever we sell our house.
The bad - as another reviewer stated, I really don't think I gained much space. I was able to put a few purses I had in a different closet on the top shelf of the new closet, but that's about it. I had visions of getting all my husband's suit jackets in (8 or so)- no way. I still need my old shoe rack on the floor. They seem to give you too many shelves and bars, and not enough supports - I had to spend another $20 to get more vertical supports, and could use even more. The shelves would be better if they were two inches deeper, although they work fine as is.
In summary, I feel this is a great organizational tool, but not much of a space saver if you are starting with a long shallow closet.
Second one easier to install than the first
2008-06-03
This is a very nice product. Quality materials and clear instructions for install. As one who doesn't do much DIY stuff around the house, it is still a bit of a challenge. The second kit I bought went in much easier by virtue of having a bit of experience. The kit allows for a bunch of options of how you want to organize your closet. The nice thing is you can always go back and redo it if your needs or moods change. The price here goes up and down so put it in your cart and wait for it to go down to get the best deal. I like the finished results.
Awesome Closet!

After my 50 year old closet collapsed I was in dire need of something! WOW! I love this system. It's very similar to the Elfa only it cost us about 1/4 of the price. The system is easy to install- you just have to get the top rail in where it's stable. This was difficult with our old plaster walls but once we did, we flew through the process. My husband liked my closet so well he installed one in his! :-)
Good quality and value

After careful research, I ordered 3 sets to outfit 5 reach-in closets (one 8' and four 4'). I have previously installed ClosetMaid and systems from the now defunct Organized Living (probably similar to Elfa). The quality of shelving and finish is superior to ClosetMaid. 12" depth is the only option with this system, which is fine for my reach-in applications (for a larger walk-in, I would prefer a system with deeper shelf offerings). Hanging hooks and rods are metal, end caps are plastic but look ok.
I found installation to be comparable to other hanging wire systems. The provided fasteners and anchors worked fine for me, but I would not fault the product if a specific application required the use of different ones - I have become accustomed to providing my own fasteners for various boxed products if the situation calls for it.
Two of the closets are for growing toddlers, and I'm already experimenting with various shelving configurations - moving shelves around is fast and kind of fun! One of the closets has an attic access, and I was able to design the shelves to allow access upon removal of two small shelves and leaving the rest of the closet undisturbed!
Highly recommended.
Rubbermaid Closet System Easy to Install, Looks Great!
2008-07-07
The system was so easy to install. No cutting and no special tools required. From the time I emptied out my closet and removed the old shelves and rod to installing the new Rubbermaid system and hanging back my clothes it took less than two hours! The system looks great with its satin nickel finish.
Looks Custom Made

Could not be happier with this product. It was inexpensive, easy to put up, and looks as though it was custom made for my closet. Look seriously at this item if you are looking to upgrade your closet.
My closet is cleaner! Thanks Rubbermaid!!!

There's less anxiety in my life since I installed the Rubbermaid Configurations Closet Kit. I had looked around at other solutions and really liked the elfa product at the Container Store but this was easier on my wallet and delivered exactly what I needed.
Closet Clutter Solution

I bought the 4'-8' organizer, installation was pretty easy, the demo of the old closet and painting was less than fun though.
My Suggestions:
*Have a good working stud sensor
*A laser line level would speed the process up a bit too.
Suggested Modifications:
* Instructions say to install tracks 86.5" above floor, after my full install I may suggest others to install at 81.5" that way you can have one shelf on top and hang clothes from and another shelf on bottom without needing extra extensions.
* Also, my closet measured about 5' X 5' instead of buying 2 of the 3-6' organizer sets, I accidentally bought 1 of the 4-8' sets. I installed one track on the left wall and the other on the far back wall. You're supposed to actually overlap the the tracks but this modification proved to be very practical and actually saved me $.
head rail could be better
2008-06-16
I installed the first closet with the parts from Home Depot. Figure to save a bit of money with the complete set and get this one. They are almost the same configuration.
1. The head rail from Home Depot are much stronger and thicker. I was able to get a single rail rather than than two separate pieces as with Rubbermaid. I am not sure the rubbermaid can handle more weight and I am a bit affraid to stack more stuffs on the top as one of the rail lightly bended when it arrived. The packing could be better as two smaller shelves were also bended.
2. They are both installed almost the same way. However, I probably will be back to Home Depot for the other two closets. I don't use all the parts from rubbermaid so the saving did not really help. I will use the spare parts for the other two closets since the rack use the same hooks.
