Great Product - Extra head and Cheaper at Home Depot
2008-05-12
This is one of the best products I've ever purchased. It saved me hours (maybe days) of headaches. I tried to use DIF enzyme wallpaper remover and it took me a 4 hours to do 1 wall. I gave up and went to buy this at Home Depot. The entire rest of the room took me 1 HOUR with the steamer!
As much as I love Amazon, I do have to say that it's only $49.99 at Home Depot and comes with the smaller head for tight spaces. I would recommend checking out your local Home Depot before buying it here, just to see if you can get a better price with the extra head.
A Good Value

If you have a home project that involves stripping wallpaper, this is just what you need! It is easy to use, effective, and relatively inexpensive. It won't stand up to heavy use, though. Our first unit broke down after being used weekly (mostly on Fridays/ Saturdays) seven months after we got it. We bought another one after trying to get the first one repaired under warranty-- that's been nearly impossible.
great!

I had been fighting with removing wallpaper in my home for 3 months. Ordered this in desperation and it has been a life saver! I just wish it had an optional smaller plate to get into tighter spots.
Well worth the investment!

After trying the gel stripper in one room there was no way I was ever going to use that method EVER again. I purchased this little steamer and the next room I tackled was super easy and went quickly. I scored the wallpaper with a utility knife and started steaming. There was no mess like there was with the gel and it left the walls in much better shape to prep for paint. ONE WORD OF CAUTION...Be sure to check your extension cord for the proper size indicated in the steamer instruction booklet. I used an orange outdoor cord but it wasn't the correct size and I ended up frying the power cord to the steamer and had to call Wagner to replace it, which they did. The steamer gets very hot during use and will actually weld the power cord to your extension cord if the proper size is not used.
Wallpaper. Yuk!

This product is really great as an improvement over using liquid gels or solutions to remove wallpaper.
We did three walls with this in the time we did 1/2 wall using liquid removers.
You can't go wrong using this wallpaper remover.
Wonderful product

I purchased this to remove wallpaper from a 50 year old house. The heating element heated the water quickly, and after holding the steam plate atop the area i was removing for about 20 seconds, the paper came off relatively easily. A complete blessing, and I'm extremely pleased with this purchase.
A word of caution: water from the plate can drip and if you're not careful you might wind up with drops of hot water falling on you.
Don't rent a Steamer!!!

I rented a steamer for the first week of my whole house(10 1/2' high ceilings & wallpaper on the ceilings...yeah, you heard that right) wallpaper steaming project. It cost $65 a week, was a brand new rental and it was extremely heavy-as was the steaming plate. Your arm will fatigue quickly with the commercial steamers. It seemed as if I was jipped. So I bought 2 of the Wagners and they outperform the rented $400(msrp) steamer. The Wagner heats up twice as fast, holds the same amount of water and lasts atleast 2 hours per fill-up. Don't rent one...buy one(or two)!
Owie!!!

Not much engineering has been put into the device. It feels inexpensive, hey, it is compared to a professional.
Lessons I learned:
This machine works much better than any chemical application or fabric softener! It's messy but it's a different messy. Like Florida heat vs. New Mexico heat.
Do not do any steaming of wallpaper without long pants and shoes. I know, that's a no brainer right? Well, when you're working on your own home one tends to get relaxed - throw on a t-shirt, some shorts or maybe even wear socks. Or if you are working in a confined space you will get hot and want to strip down a bit. That is NOT a good idea. The hot water will definitely burn the skin.
As much as kids will want to help NOT a good idea.
Cover any baseboards you have. The pieces you remove from the wall will stick on your baseboards then you have to deal with taking it off that.
There is no way to turn the device off. Steam will keep being produced so you should have a small bucket to throw the handle in should you need to set it down for a minute or two. COVER YOUR WOOD FLOORS and carpet.
Steamer - Wall Paper Removal

Good product for the price. Sturdy and efficient with good volume for the water tank. Easy to use. On the negative side I shall mention the lack of a small steam tray to reach narrow areas. Overall a good buy.
Excellent Steamer for Wallpaper Removal

At first, I was hesitant to buy the product since it was 1 gallon and I had to remove painted wallpaper in every room of the house. YUK! Boy was I impressed. This 1 gallon steamer lasts for hours before you have to fill it up again. My Fiance and I just bought a 3-bedroom house with vaulted ceiling. The hose was long enough that it reached hard-to-reach areas. There really is no need to buy the attachments as others recommend. Don't even buy the upgraded products (as I was contemplating to). This one was perfect. We even used wallpaper stripper and it doesn't even compare to the power of this steamer. Renting a steamer was going to cost us $24/day. This was definitely an investment. BUY IT!
