Apple Shake 4 Upgrade (Pre-Order Today! Due 8/31/05).
Used to create the world's most celebrated visual effects, Shake 4 is the only compositing software delivering a complete toolset for both single artists and visual effects facilities. With 3D multi-plane compositing, Keylight and Primatte keying, optical flow image processing and Final Cut Pro 5 integration, Shake 4 delivers all the tools required for sophisticated visual effects.
Shake 4 delivers the most efficient compositing operations for handling large images with pristine quality. From full 32-bit float Keylight and Primatte keyers to OpenGL-accelerated 3D multi-plane compositing, no other visual effects software delivers as complete a toolset for individual artists and full visual effects facilities.
Shake leads the way in integrating the latest image processing technology into a single, affordable visual effects package. Shakeâs Optical Flow technology uses pixel-by-pixel image analysis to create smooth retiming, incredible high quality resizing and automatic stabilization. The results are cleaner, sharper and more natural-looking images.
Apple Shake 4 Features:- Composite unlimited layers in 3D space for seemless blending of live action CGI
- Intuitive way to construct sophisticated composites

Powerful, but beware
2007-12-03
When it comes to compositing,Shake can do just about anything you would ever want to do. I own a small private media company (meaning a one man show- me) and I bought Shake, along with some plug-ins to try to fix a problem I was having with some footage. First, let me say the final result was amazing, the 3 frames I rendered looked great. The problem was those three frames took about an hour, and since I had about 4 hours of footage, this ended up being a bust for me.
I've also used Shake for some more generic compositing. I love the set up and interface, and basic design - but beware, if you try to do very much expect huge render times (unless you're one of those people who happen to have their own render farm in their basement). I run off of what was a top-of-the-line powermac 3 years ago (dual processor, 8 gigs Ram, good Nvidia 6800 graphics as well as an additional Cinewave graphics card, and doing anything major, even to a short clip usually means I have to walk away from my computer for a couple of days, at least - one 30 minute clip with moderate compositing and effects took nearly a week, until I finally gave up and killed it and went back into AfterEffects instead.
So, in short, if you're a "pro-sumer" like me, even the low price now would probably be better spent somewhere else
(I won't lie, some of my dissapointment may also be the fact that I bought this literally one week before the price dropped by 75%)
