Baby Einstein Music Car Mirror
2008-03-27
The concept is great! Too bad the product doesnt work! I was so sure this was the perfect product for my baby and I...that I immediately gave my husband the fisher price monkey one I had. It may not have had frills, but at least it lived up to its function! This one always sounds like its on its last breath, even with new batteries! The remote has never worked! TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT!!!
A battery-eater that babies love
2007-12-03
I would have given this mirror 5 stars based on how much my infant loved it and how well it actually soothed her in the car, if only it weren't for two major problems: First, this toy EATS batteries! It seemed like we were replacing them every 2 to 3 weeks. Second, the mirror lights and sounds just inexplicably quit working after 8 months of regular use, which seemed like a short life-span to me. Despite how often we were changing the batteries, I was very disappointed to throw the mirror away because it had really been entertaining my baby.
Don't bother buying this....

Don't bother buying this unless you are just in the need of the mirror. The music/lights feature is a joke. Even worse is the remote. You can't use the remote to turn it off or on. It shuts off automatically and conveniently turns on automatically sometimes too. (Usually just as baby starts to fall asleep.) Plus the units on/off button is located in a place where it always seems to get turned on as you take the baby out of the carseat. Which also awakes the baby and drains the batteries if you don't notice it is turned on. Also you can't see the lights during the day so if it gets bumped and turned on and the volume is off then there goes the batteries. Basically, everything everyone is saying is totally true. I wish I saved my receipt on this on as it would've totally gone back to the store. This thing sucks big time.
Couldn't have made it without this
2007-11-19
Our little one hated car rides for the first 4 months. We couldn't have made it sanely without this. The remote doesn't work spectacularly (limited features) but it can be "worked with." Would definitely recommend it to people who have little ones (under 5 months) who love lights and sounds. She's 5 months now and is more interested in holding and gumming things and so I don't know how much longer this will be a fun toy. Was a live saver for the early months though!
It worked once

The clicker worked once! I tried taking the batteries out and put new in...it just bit it.
Has to be a better choice than this

I'm on my second one. My daughter loved the first one, thought it only occasionally worked, mirror was incredibly distorted and ate batteries like crazy. (Read other reviews - you'll see many of these units do.)I especially hated that it came on by itself and woke her up from naps more than once. Plus, a remote that will not turn the unit on/off - especially needed while driving - is asinine. It eventually quit all together at 6mos and I had to buy another one (grumble)to make my 6mos old happy. If you can find something else, buy it - this one will drive you nuts.
DO NOT BUY THIS!!

We bought this mirror and returned it thinking it was broken as it never worked -- the remote is worthless. Then the second one we brought home ALSO DID NOT WORK with the remote -- which you need when you are driving. We tried changing batteries -- everything! Also the mirror is way too small and distorted so you cannot tell if the baby is asleep. What a waste of money -- disappointing for Baby Einstein and now we are stuck with it because I threw the box away. Oh well. We have replaced it with a basic mirror but was hoping for something a little more stimulating. BABY EINSTEIN YOU SHOULD REMOVE THIS PRODUCT AND MAKE SOMETHING THAT WORKS!
Catchy toy but the remote is useless
2008-06-04
My son loves this toy, and the mirror works good enough BUT the remote is useless. I replaced the batteries twice thinking they were dead. The instructions tell you to hit the button on the toy once and that activates the remote, but that has NEVER worked for us. I instructions with the toy say do not return to store call Baby Einstein. I should have ignored them and returned it. I contacted Baby Einstein and they referred me to the manufacturer (Kids II I think that was). Not worth the effort. I just use it manually when I place my son in the car and it plays for quite awhile.
Horrible Car MIrror!!!!!!!!!!
2008-05-16
I chose this mirror so my daughter would have something to entertain her when we rode in the car at night...boy was I in for it! Within the first week, the remote that came with it stopped working. I replaced the batteries and it worked...for another week!! Then the stupid remote stopped working again. We took it out of our car and she plays with it around the house. The mirror was too small too, but I liked the idea of the music and the lights to be with her while I was driving. Great concept, horrible product!
Hit or Miss

I bought this product with high expectations. The first remote didn't work. I then switched out the batteries in the unit itself and the remote still didn't work. I called kidsii who told me they were having problems with the remotes and sent me a replacement remote in 10 days. The replacement remote didn't work either. Frustrated, I returned the product. A friend of mine bought this and hers worked on the first try and she swore by it. Since my friend said she couldn't live without hers, I bought another one and the remote still didn't work. I returned the second unit and was going to be done with it, but I really wanted something for traveling for my 7 month old. Afer one too many times of pulling over the car to soothe my daughter, I finally broke down and bought a third (and what i promised myself would be my FINAL attempt) unit from a different retailer and it worked! Now that it works I can't live without it. The remote working is a hit or miss. Yours will either work or it won't. If your remote won't work...the toy is pretty much useless. If you get one that is functional, other than the fact that there is no on/off on the remote itself which is frustrating because it burns batteries and when your child falls asleep, you really do want to turn it off, it works wonders.
