I have never wrote a review before but but this time HP has made a piece of junk. I hope I stop someone else from buying this printer. It was not an inexpensive printer when I bought it and have had nothing but trouble. My printer says there is an ink system failure and I have spent hours tryinhg to get the problem resovled. Its impossible and I have decided to junk it.

Waste of my hard earned money! 2008-04-14
For some reason I can only put down to insanity, I bought this printer after my beloved Epson died (after many years of trouble free use). This printer constantly claims to be out of paper, no matter how I load the paper tray. Do a Google search and see how many other people have this same problem! And HP tech support is apparently in Guadalajara! BAH! I'll take my lumps, throw this piece of garbage in the land fill, and buy something else (NOT HP).

Bad seller 2008-04-05
Printer did not work. Powered up but would not print. I have seven of these printers no problems

Don't plan on printing black and white... 2008-02-04
I've owned many HP printers in my lifetime and they're the only brand I've recommended for years, however this printer has changed my opinion of HP so drastically that I may never purchase another HP printer again.

When printing color, this printer does great and I like that it's got separate color cartridges so that you don't have to replace the entire rainbow when one color runs out, however this printer has a serious flaw...

When printing black and white, it continues to burn through color cartridges. I estimate that for every 30 BLACK ONLY pages (no, I'm not kidding here) I end up replacing one of the color cartridges. I've called HP, I've chatted with online support... the only thing they tell me is that I must not have "black only" selected under my quality options, but I do. I've spent over $100 on color cartridges even though I use this printer to print black and white primarily and I've finally decided that I could have bought a cheap laser printer by now for the cost of the ink that has literally gone to waste.

I even resorted to saving my cartridges thinking that surely it isn't actually USING the ink in these color cartridges, and that maybe it's just a software malfunction in calculating remaining ink? Nope, that doesn't work either... when you see the message "Replace yellow because it's low" and then you toss in your old yellow cartridge that mysteriously ran out even though you hadn't printed a single color document since it had been installed, you get a new message: "Replace yellow cartridge because it is beyond it's expiration date" ... what's in this cartridge that makes it expire in 6 months, milk??

Save your money, stay away.

Hate this printer 2008-01-19
This printer has had paper feed problems from day one. I so regret not returning it. Previously had an HP all-in-one, cheap but worked better than the 8250 which was over $250. Afraid to buy another HP.

Super fast photo printer! 2008-07-14
I have just compared this printer to the deskjet 6840, and the slightly newer 6940. This printer is outrageously faster at printing pictures than either of those two. The cons are that it's very bulky and you have multiple different cartridges to worry about having extra's all the time. Once I figure out which method of refilling these cartridges is fastest then I will be Golden.

HORRIBLE 2008-06-03
This printer is absolutely terrible. First off, I had to send my back the first week, and I received a refurb after that. The printer "uses" colored ink even when only printing in black and white, so that you have to replace the color cartridges even though you aren't using them. If you're out of pink ink, you can't print in black and white, what a scam. I replaced all of my cartridges and only printed in black and white since then, yet I'm somehow running out of yellow, blue, pink ink a few weeks later. When I realized that I couldn't print in black and white without having all the color cartridges in, I went out and bought another brand and will never use another HP printer again. The printer is basically designed to get you to buy a bunch of ink you don't need. I'm convinced the printer will tell you that your color cartridges are empty when they're really not.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER!!!! Hazardous to your health! 2008-05-29
This printer has been a problem since day one. There have been constant paper jams, constant "out of paper" when it is NOT, black plastic pieces that came out of printer after 6 months that didn't change how the printer functioned, paper loading problems, paper tray problems, photo tray problems, HP support problems, HP lack of support problems, but I've got to tell you, if you can handle not totally losing your sanity while trying to get it to print, the quality is fairly decent. Tomorrow my family is taking the printer to the shooting range to use as target practice...they are tired of hearing their mother try to reason with a printer. They are concerned about my blood pressure. :)

Paper feed problems 2008-05-23
This printer will not feed regular inkjet printer. It has no problems with photo paper, but what's the point of a home printer if it can't do you regular everyday printing?

HP Photosmart 8200 - Inefficient and a waste of money 2008-05-15
If this newer HP is anything like its predecessor, the 8200, save your money! It goes through expensive to replace color ink in an amazingly short time and depletes the color cartridges even when you are using the Black Only setting! It's difficult to determine just which cartridges are getting low, and if even one goes out, the printer refuses to print.
I gave up and bought a Brother.
