Easy to use!

I designed a bathroom and a kitchen remodel using this software. The bathroom is completely done and the images from this software really helped. There were no surprises. We did change around the plan many times before construction, but after looking at the images we were very sure of what we were getting. The kitchen will be started soon. I have been trying to imagine the kitchen layout (not a big change) for about 8 years. This software allowed me to move things around easy, then see a picture of it from any angle. One big help is the web site has a forum. If you need to find out how to... show a 5' square skylight, with a beam in the middle, and a ceiling fan hanging from that beam... some one on the forum has already done it. Just search for what you need and a step buy step description is right there.

I have had this product for about a month and I love it. I am still learning new things every time I use it. I would recommend this product to others.
Excellent Product for the Price! 2007-12-08
We are remodeling our kitchen and bathroom and we bought this so we could make better decisions before we drop big bucks and start knocking down walls. Our architect put together schematics and a cardboard model but Interior Designer brought it to a new level by giving us a full color 3D view of the end result.
Interior Designer makes it incredibly easy to layout the walls, add doors, windows, and fixtures. It's super easy to click and drag cabinets, refrigerators, and other appliances into the design.
The product is not perfect - there are some constraints that make it difficult to place appliances where they barely fit or add custom geometry that's outside the bounds of normal designs - but for $50 I think this is an incredible product.
Using interior designer, we got a MUCH better feel for our finished remodel. Well worth the price.

This is a nice product, require very little training. Choices for furniture and appliances are less but good enough to give you the idea.
Drawing curved stairs has limits only few options are there.
Customer service is good and received email response within 12 h.
If you want to draw in metric units (m, cm) you have to start the plan as metric and cannot convert inch to cm units once the plan is drawn!

I am an interior designer of 25 years and have always drawn things by hand.Finally I was tired of it and wanted something that looked more professional and that I could draw in a flash.I purchased this hoping it would be really simple.I spent a few hours on it and got the hang of it. Actually it's more than I need. My 9 year old daughter saw what I was doing and wanyet to make a floorplan of her bedroom herself. She got the hang of it in 5 minutes.
Perfect for what I needed and such a great price.
Good for general layout purposes but limiting

The product is very easy to use. You don't need to read the manual or do the tutorials to figure it out. There are a lot of things you can do. However, it is also very limiting. Things that should be very simple are difficult. For example, you put an area rug in a room, and then you want to put furniture on top of it. That sounds like something simple but it is not easy. The program will not let you put any piece of furniture on top of something else. Instead you have to place the furniture off to the side, and then either edit its properties, or go into 3D view and lift the furniture off the ground a little, then slide it over the rug. Copying and pasting has a really stupid implemention. It is unconventional and clunky. Also, there is no way to copy multiple items and past them. For example, if you made a room layout you like, and you wanted to move all the stuff from one room to another, or from one floor to another, you cannot select all, copy, then paste. In fact, there is no easy way at all to do it. The frame rate was not so hot in 3D view mode either after filling it with furniture, windows, window treatments and everything. This makes it very difficult to have a smooth walk through of your virtual room. With frame hitching as you walk through the room, it is extremely distracting, and you cannot get a good feel for the space. I do not think it is my computer either. I do not have the most up to date computer, but I do have a Pentium 4 and a pretty good graphics card. They say this works with Windows 98. I'd like to see that actually happen. All in all though, I was able to get enough out of this program to have a good idea of what things will look like when I lay out my furniture in different arrangements, and it helped me figure out if I had enough space to place certain things. Mild thumbs up.

$50 well spent 2008-02-25
I'm renovating a bathroom and decided to GC the project myself. This software allowed me to create an accurate drawing of the room (suitable to present to the municipal authorities for electrical and plumbing permits). In addition, it was a lot of fun to try out different interior design elements (pedastal sink vs vanity, etc.) to create the desired final look. The materials list generated by the program was also very helpful. FInally, it was easy to point and click through and I mastered it quickly. Given that the overall cost of this project is many 1000s of dollars, it was worth the extra $50 to do be able to do the design work myself.
Home Design Program 2008-02-13
This program is fairly easy to use with a little trial and error. The renderings available as work is completed allow for relatively good representation of what you should see in real life Very useful for designing traffic flow patterns and placement of furniture prior actual placement. Allows for realistic room design. Image on image, a table on a rug or vase on a table for example, should be less convoluted and easier to accomplish as well as not having to connect all four walls to do flooring and several other things. Overall, I was mostly pleased with the program.
Very Frustrating

I tried to use this product in order to create some visualizations for our kitchen redesign. After sepnding a lot of frustrating time learning the product and building up the room dimensions, doors, etc... I found that the library is EXTREMELY limited in terms of the types of sinks, ranges, etc... you can put in. The result it it is worthless for actually visualizing what appliances, cabinet colors, etc... would look like. The product may be fine for laying out rooms and the like but I would have expected a version called "interior designer" to have a *much* greater selection of objects to be even mildly useful. I'm returning it if I can.
