Highest cost per page printer on market
2006-12-23
This printer forces you to use only the HP92 and HP93 5ml cartridges, even though HP makes the same physical cartridges in larger yield models (HP94, HP95, HP96, HP97, and HP98). The printer only accepts the lowest yield cartridges.
Figure this: If you had an older HP printer that used the standard HP45A cartridge.... that cartridge held 42ml of black ink and costs $30. This model uses the HP92A which holds 5ml of black ink for $20. So if you buy 8 of the HP92 cartridges ($160 worth) you still don't have as much ink as the $30 HP42A cartridge. This works out to an extremely high cost per page.
It also only uses a 5ml color cartridge. You can buy a canon printer for the same price that uses 3 individual cartridges per color that hold 13ml each (39ml total color), which equals out to a much lower cost per page.
Great printer

My cat peed on my old all in one printer and broke it, so i went on amazon and found a printer that used the same ink cartridges, and it was on sale with free shipping, i saved about 50%!, i was very happy and the printer works great. came with free ink too. sadly you need a printer to usb cable for it to work, but people usually have a bunch of these cables lying around. easy set up, extremly fast shipping. awsome!
Not bad for the price...

For its price, this is a work horse of a printer. Small, compact, space saving design. Fast and quiet as well. Only problem, as one reviewer mentioned earlier, is that it doesn't print well on labels for some reason. So I guess if you're just printing on regular paper, this one will do the trick.
Edit: This printer had a very short lifespan for me. It lasted about 3 mos. We trashed it and paid a little more for a more reliable brand.
Very disappointed

I am very disappointed in this printer for two reasons. 1) After loading the software, I was unable to use Print Artist. It acted like the HP software planted a virus into the Print Artist software and it would get an exception error every time I tried to print. This problem has not been resolved and I am forced to buy new software. 2) They advertise the printer as a "Photo" printer, but fail to inform you that you can either use it as a paper color printer with one ink cartridge, or you can use it as a photo printer with a different cartridge. You can not use the same printer for both photos and for non-photos, without removing a non-reusable $30 ink cartridge and inserting a different $30 non-reusable ink cartridge. This is very disturbing.
pretty cool

I got this printer for free when I bought my desktop two years ago and just barely started using it in the last 6 months.
I shouldn't have waited!
It was easy to install and easy to use. I have printed some beautiful photos out of it. I had to print three pages of collages for an adoption profile my husband and I made, and the pictures were small, but very detailed.
It's quick for normal black and white text documents, and a tolerable speed for photos. On regular paper, photos also print out crisp and clear. The noise is not excessive or even bothersome. And the printer doesn't take up much space, but I wish the bottom tray folded up like the top tray does, just for symmetry.
My other complaint is the speed at which this printer uses ink. I don't often use the printer, but I have already changed both the black and the color cartridges, and am a little over half way through that black cartridge. But about $15 for an HP 92 black cartridge (if you shop around) isn't too bad.
I have not used the port in front of the printer.
Nothing Good About HP Photo Printers

I have an HP2575v. This printer has never been able to feed paper of any kind. Imagine having to run to the printer serveral times to clear paper jams during the course of a print job. Why have a networked printer when you have to put down your wireless laptop and run to the other side of the house whenever you print. It has never fed a single sheet of 4x6 paper. The documentation says alot about using HP paper to print 4x6 pictures. The network drivers are buggy and consume all available CPU until it freezes. Only solution is to turn off the power on computer. A search on the internet reveals that many others have same problem, HP knows about it, but does not release a fix. Inhales ink cartridges and is extremely expensive to operate when it actually feeds paper. Save yourself and buy a Lexmark or Cannon or Epson.
Great low cost printer..too expensive to supply
2007-10-26
As almost everyone else has said, this printer does a great quality print job whether printing text and graphics or printing photos. I am dismayed however at the extremely, repeat, extremely high cost per page. This is due to the tiny amount of ink in the cartridges and the very high cost of ink. Although Walgreens and others will refill these at about half the price of a new cartridge, it is still not a reasonable cost per page. I would not recommend any HP for this reason alone. They, and Epson both make great, low cost printers but what good is a well priced printer if you can't afford to supply it?
Great little printer

We picked this printer for our daughter to use at school. She set up with no problems, ez. It's small, quiet, prints beautifully (looks better than our expensive deskjet) and has been very reliable. The cartridge it came with lasted most of the year and then we got cartridges sent direct to her from Amazon - great price, free shipping and they just appeared. What could be better?
No need to buy expensive cartridges

Never buy replacement cartridges because the printer won't last that long. Mine quit before it ran out of ink. No more HP stuff for me.
