Great portable speaker

This thing works great, packs flat and just keeps on ticking. It would be nice if the cord for connecting one's MP3 were longer, but I can live with that!
hard on the ears!

As long as you don't raise the volume this is fine...however for use with audiences during presentations, it is extrememly hard on the ears...the lack of sound clarity doesn't help either
Great sound if it's the right price 2008-03-09
I purchased 2 of these as Christmas gifts in September of 07. At that time the price was just a little over $20. I have to say the sound that comes from this is certainly worth more than what I paid but I'm not sure I could accept the going price now.
This portable speaker is great though. Very compact - comes with its own cover which doubles as a stand. The cord in the back is short which worked well for the people I purchased for - they were hooking it up to Zen Stone Plus Mp3's (the Mp3's could sit on the stand very nicely).
Overall, I have to say this is a great product. Great enough, in fact, that I'm keeping my eyes open for a sale on these so I can get one for myself.

I was expecting something a little better from this Logitec product. It has a vibrating distorted sound and is no better than my built in laptop speakers.
Good sound, a few minor mechanical design flaws

The speakers sound pretty great when hooked to the computer or to an MP3 player. The bass is full yet the mid and high ranges are well covered.
The mechanical design is less impressive. The audio cord is far too short to connect to any computer, obviously designed only for MP3 playback use. The idea of opening the speaker cover as a support stand would be great if there were more angles at which the support were stable. Instead, if opened to angle the speakers even slightly upward, the unit falls over backwards.
The unit turns itself off if no input is detected for a while. I haven't yet decided if this is a great feature (keeps from wasting the batteries) or really bad (missed audio cues for incoming email when connected to the computer).

This is the second set of speakers (actually a single speaker) that I've ordered. They are both battery and household powered. Very satisfied with unit.
Great Sound 2008-02-08
Purchased for my wife as a Xmas present. For a small, light-weight speaker the sound is great while playing the MP3. Overall, a terrific purchase.
Shocking 2008-02-01
This is really great for my IPOD. I've never seen this design before either. The whole front surface of this unit is vibrating sound generating speaker. I wonder how big they could make a speaker like this. I don't know what happened with the price. It was like $60 for me a couple of weeks ago. Maybe this is a different listing. I really can't believe it works so well though. It is totally portable but still substantial in quality. It isn't going to shake the house or anything but seems to cover the sound frequency range without sounding cheap. I'd buy it again. It is much more portable than anything else I could find. Many other speakers for this purpose are round or just real think because the IPOD sits in the speaker. Logitech makes a MM49 that is kind of like that. And yes the stand folds over to work as a cover. The cover is finished off nice with a rubber gasket. Ths short cord goes to the IPOD, the power cord is plenty long or use 4 AA batteries.
Decent sound, nice portability, cheap 2008-01-25
You can't go wrong for $20.00. It fits in my laptop case nicely. It's a little obtrusive, but not terrible The cord is crazy crazy short and severely handicaps placement options when used with a laptop. The cord is like only 10 inches long and the speakers are 10" wide... therein lies the problem. But they sound pretty good. I enjoy watching movies and TV on my laptop much much more, and it's fun to be able to play music annywhere I want to easily and with decent quality.
