It Works 2007-03-14
The installation was a little weird. The driver didn't automatically load like the guide said, but I did it manually and it works in the end. The reception is pretty good, but of course I placed it in a nearby room. Overall, a good little device.

**UPDATE** Well, 5 months into owning this thing and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed. I've NEVER had a dropped connection (hopefully this review won't jinx it!). I'm gonna buy Trendnet again for my next PC.

works well 2007-03-13
I can't believe that that many people has unsecured wireless! You can connect very easily to networks but keeping the signal is quite a chore. I was actually standing on my couch, laying on the fridge to keep the neighbors signal.

Worked as an adapter on a Vista system 2007-02-21
I had bought this device for its wifi seeking capabilities and never intended to use it as a wifi adapter, but I gave it a try when my prior wifi adapter didn't seem to work on my new Vista system. After I installed the drivers on the companion CD, it worked perfectly as a wifi adapter and it handles WPA encryption.

I love this product. 2007-01-05
I love this thing. The range is AMAZING! It picks up about twice as many Access Points than my centrino based laptop wireless by itself.

Also, just searching in a car for hot spots is pretty cool with the adapter by itself.

You have to use the software that comes with it, otherwise it is hard to use. Software isn't dummy proof either, you might actually have to read the instructions.

Overall, very very good.

A Nice Wi-Fi Detector and Adapter 2006-12-29
If you order this item through Amazon, you may end up receiving it with a white case that has pictures of soccer balls all over it. This is what I had sent to me twice. Like the other reviewer, I also live in the middle of nowhere. When I pass through a small town, this device makes it so easy to locate hotspots. Before, I would keep pressing the scan button on my Palm TX... pretty difficult to do when you're trying to drive. This unit tells you the signal strength and lets you know whether or not a signal is secured. You can browse through all the available hotspots with the push of a button. Apart from the soccer ball artwork, I'm very pleased with it. It would be nice if they designed the cap that covers the USB connection to snap on more securely. Being able to place it on a key chain would also be a big plus.

Great product 2008-03-20
I bought this adapter for a windows server 2003 machine and it works like a charm from day 1. I just had to install the driver and typed ssid and wep and its on. I have not tested this with WPA but don't think it would have a problem.

On the side note its a little bulky as it hotspot locator feature but overall great product.

Excellent purchase 2007-11-17
By where it want that go I can see the networks you publish and to sail thus by the network. Very easy to install and to use. Very good sensibility. High security.

Not Bad.... 2007-07-30
Range is OK/Pretty good.. By moving my access point things improved.. But.. I received a spotted soccer ball painted adapter, not the blue one that is being displayed. This would be OK if it weren't that my range could be improved by moving the adapter to a better place where I would have to see the adapter.. Point is.. show the one that you are selling. Otherwise .. not bad. I am a fan of Trend!!

Works Perfectly 2007-07-12
Does exactly what it says it does. The only thing I don't like about it is the cap. USB devices with caps are annoying because the first thing I usually do is lose the stupid cap.

Works on Vista RTM 2007-05-31
I didn't install the companion CD; just plugged in the device and Windows Update found the drivers and installed for me. I just want the basic connectivity and this did the trick.

I'm using it as a backup as my Toshiba M5 Notebook with the Intel 3945ABG card is so poor, in terms of buggy device drivers under Vista, that this acts soley as a backup.

However, I'll be trying out the Hotspot locator as well.
