sand anchor

The grip bars to turn anchor in the sand could be sturdier, it feels as though they may break off. But, if careful, the anchor works great once in the sand.

Does this sound like you? You're planning a nice, relaxing trip to the beach. You've got all of your gear, including a super-duper beach umbrella. You get there, and you dig like mad to stick the umbrella into the sand, and then what happens? About 20 minutes later, you're running down the beach as your (formerly clean, pristine) umbrella topples end over end away from you. Children laugh and adults snicker as you drag what-used-to-be-a-nice-umbrella back up the beach. You need one device, my friends, and only one device - this sand anchor. I was dubious that such a small, simple corkscrew gizmo would work, but trust me, I'll be giving these away as gifts to fellow family beachgoers at Christmastime (and they're a tough crowd to please!!). Do yourself a favor, buy this and be happy!!

This sand anchor was easy to use and worked great. The week at the beach was much more enjoyable when I did not have to worry about the umbrella flying away across the beach. I wish I had bought one years ago. It was inexpensive and made a great addition to my beach cart.
Didn't hold up on the beach

Just returned from vacation at the Jersey shore. Used our new sand anchor for the first time and we were disappointed. We followed the directions and put the umbrella in the anchor. There was a light breeze blowing but it was nowhere near the 30 mph that the product claims it can withstand. Within an hour, the anchor began to loosen and soon after the umbrella blew off its stand. I would not recommend this product.
Unbrella anchor

This product works very well. I recommend it for anyone using an umbrella in the sand on the beach. Other umbrellas around me were blowing away while my umbrella stayed anchored.

Umbrella blew away anyway

The first day I used this anchor, my umbrella blew right into the surf.
It wasn't a really windy day either. I think this product would be useful in hard packed sand, but it was no match for the soft sand of the Jersey Shore. Guess that is why I didn't see it in the stores there. I did see it in South Carolina, where the beaches are hard packed and thought it would work up north. I'll just continue to "wiggle" the umbrella down into the soft NJ sand and forego the anchor.
Works okay, but not in high wind

I thought this sand anchor would be better than another one I purchased last year because it was longer. However, our 7 ft. umbrella with anchor attached, pulled out of the sand twice. In its defense, it was very windy. We found it worked better to dig about a 6 inch hole before starting to screw the anchor in the ground and then completely covering it with sand after securing the umbrella.
Great Product

I bought one last year while at the beach for a umbrella. Well back at home the stakes that the poles for my volley ball net rest on had broken and I could not find a replacement. I took out the sand anchor and it was able to support the volley ball net pole perfectly however I needed an additional one since, well it's obvious, there are 2 poles on the net. :-)
Didn't hold up to a light breeze.

I used this item per directions, and when I opened the umbrella, the whole thing immediately blew over in a light breeze. This anchor just doesn't go deeply enough into the sand to support the weight of the umbrella in any sort of wind.
