Easy to install on Vista. Nice portable size and good speed ans print quality for it's size. I have not tried it with the battery yet.
Not so portable
2008-03-11
I have had this for about a year. I swore several years back to never buy any HP products again but since this had such good reviews I figured I'd give them another chance. The battery was DOA so I had another shipped to me, which wouldn't charge, so I had another shipped to me, are you following me? this is the 3rd battery and it won't charge with the AC power cable. So in order to use my "portable" printer on the road I have to either take a power inverter with me and the AC power cable, or find an outlet in a clients location, which is sometimes difficult as I work in the industrial construction field and finding clean power, in a clean area is, well, very difficult, not to mention unprofessional looking. I then have to set up my laptop, cables, printer etc. somewhere on a construction site and print before I get the whole setup full of dust or worse. I bought this thinking I could simply print a spreadsheet or proposal in my vehicle. Shame on me for expecting such a mammoth task from a "portable" device.
Great for road warrior...

Pretty amazing product, no problems at all. I have carried with me to 5 countries and no problems whatsoever. Granted ink is a little expensive and does not last all that long - but what else is new?
Makes me profoundly more efficient in a hotel room and at a Client site.
HP Mobile Printer Review
2008-02-12
I have a hobby of scoring Sailboat races and often travel to different locations to score regattas. I had several bad experiences relying on the printers provided by the sponsoring Yacht Club so I purchased this printer to be self reliant. This printer has worked GREAT. Good quality print, reasonably fast and easy to carry around. I highly recommend it.
Somewhat misleading product description
2008-01-09
I bought this as a gift for someone else, so I can't really speak to the ease of use, but I will say that the product description was a little misleading - it didn't really make it clear that when you buy the printer, it comes with no means of connecting it to a computer. You either have to buy a wireless card or a cable to connect the printer to your computer, both of which are sold separately. Just a word of warning.
Otherwise, the printer is very compact and lightweight and the person who received it as a gift seems to be very satisfied with its quality of print.
Its NOT wirelsss NOR portable NOR bluetooth.

God the people who write these reviews leave out the most important information. I waited a week and spend over 200 and the thing is not even a wireless printer like it claims.
* They do NOT include the wireless card you need.
* This printer does NOT have bluetooth capability at all.
* They do NOT even include a battery!
* That means this is NOT a wireless printer!
Don't make the mistake I made. Make sure you search for and buy the "HP Deskjet 460wf" which comes with the wireless card and battery (duh?) ... or the "HP Deskject 460wbt" if you want bluetooth and wireless both.
Now have to put the thing back in the box, drive to FedEx, ship it back, and wait another week for a different printer. This is turning into a 3 week process. UGH.
laser quality print at inkjet mobile convenience
2008-05-14
Bought this printer with mobile portability, print quality, and inkjet printer cost as the three main considerations. I've used this printer for a month.
Performance: The printer output is almost indistinguisable from my brother laser printer, provided the print setting is set to high quality. The draft quality is also readable. The sheet feed mechanism has not jammed yet. Based on my usage of printing mostly black and white and a mix of normal and draft mode settings, a blank ink cartridge will equal 400 sheets of printed paper.
Expect Setup Problems

I read the reviews on this product as to the difficulty of wireless setup. It is not a simple procedure and I have yet to get mine working (I have not spent enough time with it I suppose).
USB wired, it works great! If you are purchasing for the convienience of wireless use, expect to spend a lengthy amount of time with setup.
This is an awesome printer!

This printer is great. So small and compact. I got it to fit into my tiny computer armoire and takes up very little space. It prints super fast and does a great job.
Great Printer - Very easy to setup
2008-03-21
When I was trying to decide which printer to buy I knew I wanted 2 things:
1. Compact
2. Great quality prints
The choice for me came down to the Canon Pixma iP90v Photo Inkjet Printer and the HP Deskjet 460c. I won't lie, initially the Canon seemed more attractive until I realized that it only worked with IE6 (eek!) which is when I started looking at the HP. I read all of the customer reviews and really became worried that it was going to be challenging to setup, especially for Wireless however I was feeling pretty confident in my ability to read and execute instructions that day so I ordered it.
With trepidation I followed the picture instructions on the HP quick setup page. These instructions are similar to Ikea instructions so I was sort of nervous but I followed each frame exactly as they specified...and what do you figure, it worked! With a wireless card, it printed and let me tell you, this is a GREAT printer.
Frankly All I can assume is that the people (who wrote the negative reviews) didn't follow the instructions because it was really easy to setup?
In summary, it's okay to buy this printer. The print quality is exceptional and it's nice and compact. It doesn't feel flimsy. It is really really nice.
