after many trial and failures with home blood pressure kits for my parents, I am happy to report we have found one that is accurate, works , and is elderly friendly to operate. As a nurse I give this two thumbs up especially for the cuff for larger arms. THANKS!

I had this monitor for over two years and it worked well but when it broke I called the manufacturer for a replacement, as their website boasts a lifetime warranty. I was told my monitor could not be fixed and it only had a two year warranty. The only thing I was offered was a discount on a new replacement but the "discounted" price was $10 more than I could buy it for at a local retail store. I will look for a new monitor from a more reputable manufacturer.

I reviewed prior to buying and found most all saying this was best for money. I now own one and agree A++ for results ease use and price. Buy one!!
Blood pressure monitor and cuff 2008-06-29
Very easy to use and has a large display, which is easy to read without glasses. The only problem is it tends to read high for me and low for my wife. Hmmm...:)

The device, purchased one month ago, performs as expected. I purchased this LifeSource product because the prior 2 Omron blood pressure monitors failed to function at the cuff after only 1 year. Hopefully, this product will have a greater lifespan.
Worth having 2008-05-07
It took a little practice but after a few times I became much better at adjusting the cuff correctly. It's a good bp monitor and correlated fairly closely with my doctor's device.

My old Lifesource BP monitor was, I thought, a bit worse for wear and so I ordered anothert blood pressure monitor made by another company. (Prevention DS-1902PV Auto-Inflate Blood Pressure Monitor) A warning: do not ever purchase anything under the Prevention or Mark of Fitness brand. The Prevention unit was horrible. The first one gave wildly inflated and inconsistent readings and constantly warned me of heart irregularities. A replacement unit did the same. The company has offered to provide a third replacement, but I grew tired of the obviously poor Prevention and Mark of Fitness products, so I ordered a new Lifesource unit.
The readings are dead-on accurate. The Lifesource unit also has an irregular heartbeat feature. I tried this and the Prevention unit apart. The Lifesource unit did not show an irregular heartbeat, while the Prevention unit once again did - as well as a vastly higher BP reading.
The Lifesource unit no longer comes packed with a carrying case, which I consider to be a minus, but it does include an AC adapter, which is a plus. There's a little scale on the side to indicate the level of your hypertension, which is useless, I think since you wouldn't be monitoring your blood pressure if you didn't already know you were somewhere on the hypertensive scale. So the scale neither adds nor detracts from the unit.
Lifesource offers everything you could ask for in a blood pressure monitor. It is easy to use. It is very accurate. And it is covered by a lifetime warranty, a fact that I had forgotten with regard to my old unit.
Lifesource customer service is responsive and helpful.
Altogether a wonderful package and far better than the units distributed by Mark of Fitness under the Prevention brand.

best monitor yet! 2008-04-28
I've owned several BP automatic monitors over the past few years, and recently returned another brand-new, more expensive one because it was uncomfortable,unwieldly, and the measurements varied considerably with very slight changes in my arm position. It also included features I will never need.(I always make notes of my readings, do not require a built-in memory, etc.) This LifeSource model is by far my favorite of any I've used. It has the features I need most, it's comfortable and easy to use, fast, and most importantly of all, it's accurate!
So often my home readings have differed considerably from the readings I get in a doctor's office (and I do NOT have white coat hypertension!) that I was frankly skeptical. But recently, I've had problems controlling my systolic, which has spiked so high I had to make one trip to the ER, so I have been monitoring my bp more frequently at home. While undergoing a thalium stress test at my cardiologist's office three days ago, I asked the nurses to tell me what my readings were. They took three readings: before, during, and after the test. I was amazed. The readings were very close to the ones I've been getting at home.
Seems to me that when measuring "vital signs" such as blood pressure, the most VITAL feature is accuracy! I love this piece of equipment.

IT'S EASY ENOUGH TO MEASURE SOMEONE'S BLOOD PRESSURE (OR ONE'S OWN) ONCE ONE HAS FOUND OUT HOW TO APPLY THE CUFF. I DOUBT, HOWEVER, THAT MANY ELDERLY PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO DO SO.
