Envirmental Can NFG 2008-08-17
I am all for keeping things green, Not trashing the earth.

But can somebody design a can that gas will flow without ending up on your feet !!!!

They have to short of a spout and need a breather screw to vent air.

I purchased 6 for the Next California Quake, Been there and Done that.

so now we are getting the generators ready to go.

Gas cans need work.

Try something else.

Seems to be fine to me. 2008-07-28
I've owned this gas can for several years now, and have absolutely no problem with it. It's common sense not to over-fill it, and to pour slowly. Still having problems?...buy a funnel!

bad bad bad 2008-06-22
Just bought one of these self-venting gas cans for putting fuel in my boat. In the past I used the old-style cans with a separate vent that you would open, which are no longer available (I used these for 10 years so I'm not new to gasoline containers). My problems:

1. it leaks no matter what you do -- I smell like gasoline
2. it's unbelievably slow -- takes forever to empty 5 gallons
3. the spout is not flexible, which makes it difficult for some circumstances
4. given where the spout is placed and how it's angled, it's impossible to empty into some gas tanks because you can't lift the can vertically with the rigid spout inserted in the tank

Recommendation: find something else -- the person who designed this can obviously never tried to use it

Zero stars if possible. 2007-06-10
I have never spilled as much gas as I have with this supposed "spill proof" can. What a major crock. That anyone thinks these cans were even necessary(probably some California moron) is proof of how stupid the u.s. has become. Even when I have spilled gas with the good old fashioned kind of can, it was nothing like what gushed out of this "spill proof" can. These should be yanked from the market asap.

what the...........!!!!!!! 2007-05-08
I have to admit...I am often critical of reviewers thinking that they are obviously doing something wrong. Not in this case. The above reviews are right on. This is the only gas can available at my local hardware store so I invested in 7 of them (yes I need that much gas) I cannot explain how bad a design this is. 12 hours after filling all cans, I noticed a 12 inch puddle of gas around each can where gas was percolating from the top. I reacted by immediately carrying the gas can out of the garage and was absolutely covered in gas spilling from the top all over my pants. I then decided that it was the fill tube under the surface of the gas that was allowing the gas to spill so I removed each. I then carried them back into the garage and they spilled again from the gas moving inside the cans. I cant imagine a design that would allow more gas to escape. All in all I would guess that more than half a gallon of gas was spilled. If you like being covered in gas or just want to meet your local Haz-Mat team, buy these cans.

Can is great from my perspective 2007-04-30
I have read the many negative reviews of this gas can, but I have had a very positive experience with it. I own 3 of them, and they do an excellent job of putting gas in a car or other larger vehicle / boat where you are not having to pour down close to the ground, like a lawn mower. Even a lawn mower is fine if you pour slowly, and if you don't fill the can too full. There is another Blitz can with a different spout that can be used easily with lawn mowers (it is labeled "Not for use with motor vehicles"), and the label is correct - that one is great for mowers where you can put leverage on the spout to open the valve, but it doesn't work at all for cars.

I've never had a spill with these cans. 2007-04-07
I've never spilled any gas with these cans over about 4 years of using them. Maybe I pour slower. I'm no fluid engineer, but I assume a slower pour is necessary in a self-venting spout. Air has to get it where the liquid is coming out.

I just bought 4 more to replace some that were purchased at a higher price at the local hardware.

I wish all the negative reviews would add an alternative product recommendation. C'mon folks, what brand do you use?

I also find it interesting that another Blitz fuel container with the same spout system, BLITZ "6 Plus" Self-Venting Gas Can has an Amazon rating of just under 4 stars. The negative reviewer on that item says he breaks spouts. Yeah, if you try support 6 gallons by hanging the load on a plastic spout, it's going to break.

The only problem I've had is losing caps. But Blitz sent me a dozen gratis and I found that furniture leg caps work great too. The furniture caps do in fact seal the spout tighter than the stock version and stay put better too.

Blitz 5 gallon fuel can 2006-12-09
Failure to use a funnel with this gas can will splatter/spill fuel all over the place. The nozzel plug could be simpler, like a rubber plug. The back handle is helpful. The color on other Blitz cans I've had a few years has faded badly; hope these hold up better.

A Class Action Suit Waiting to Happen 2006-11-09
This can is something you should never buy. I'm attempting to get a refund from the company. I have been pouring gas for 35 years. I have never spilled any before. Compounding ths problem is that when the gas spills out of this, it spills onto my hands AND into water, which is a discrace. I feel like Satan himself when I use this can, spilling fuel all over the water and Earth. Gasoline is a carcinogen. This can ensures you get it all over your hands when you use it. I can't believe the lawyers at this company have allowed them to put such a dangerous product out to market. They have left themselves open to class action suits from environmentalists, people getting skin cancer, and the average user who is doused in gasoline and ends up next to an ignition source, killing him or her.

I'm baffled as to how they could possibly be allowed to sell such a dangerous product.
