Its the same as Vice City.
Alot of bugs and glitches and very repetitive. Just get GTAIV.

I found a new copy of this at my local retailer for $10 and decided to pick it up. I had played Vice City and GTA III a couple of times on my friend's systems and consoles. In San Andreas, missions are fun, but sometimes they seem unnecessary and tedious. Other drivers seem to hit you and swerve into your path unnecessarily, but that's why you have a gun. The free roaming aspect is as nice as ever, but the cop AI is hit or miss. The mouse control is so much sweeter than analog sticks for aiming. The relatively few types of people get repetitive, and draw distance is too short even at maximum.
A couple of points:
This game will tax a fairly nice modern system at 1080i resolution with all effects enabled, but 720p or lower is piece of cake.
This game DOES RUN on Windows XP PRO 64-bit! This is a big deal, even Apple no longer supports xp64 with iTunes.
This game is a steal at its current price, and it will help tide me over while I wait for 4 to hit PC.
If it ain't broke, don't break it!

I've been a fan of the franchise, having enjoyed GTA 3 and Vice City. But I just couldn't get into San Andreas. The altered aiming/driving controls took the joy out of the game for me. I even picked up a game controller to try to make it more playable: it helped, but not enough. I can't comment on the game as a whole, because I bailed after a handful of missions. The San Andreas map is too big for me to bother fumbling through it with these annoying controls.
+++cool game, but violent+++

It is a nice game, you can do whatever you want, but it is somethimes too violent, because you can do whatever you want.
It is no game for younger gamers and it is for a reason 17 rated.
But at all- super game!!!
Great game, requires powerful machine.

I always wanted to play a GTA from start to end, but using cheats always spoiled the fun for me. This was the first time I promised myself to play it honestly and never use a single cheat, and so far has really worked; as for the hot coffee mod, I really don't get turned on by pixelated mini-sex games and I wanted the latest version of it, so I got 2.0. As for the game, I knew GTA IV is coming (Or is it the V?) but is going to be a while until it reaches the pc. If you want to play GTA: San Andreas you'll need a powerful machine. I have a pavilion laptop with 2MB SDRAM, and 500+ shared video memory and an Nvidia video card and still sometimes it still runs alow, but most of the time is as smooth as silk. Sometimes I get frustrated with the controls, I recommend an analog gamepad, but I use my keyboard, the mousepad-thingy of the laptop and a 14-button gamepad and I generally use the gamepad for driving, walking and the auto-aim for shooting, when it gets to using precise weapons like the rocket launcher or the siper rifle, I use the mouse. It is a really fun game and -in the game- I'm always busy doing something, from completing a drive-sneak in-shoot-drive and shoot-run from the cops mission to playin billiards against the computer. If you like need for speed, the sims and any shoot 'em up, this game is for you. If you're looking for a three-hour gameplay game, this is certainly not for you.
Love it.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas brings back the incredible action of the hit game series. Carl Johnson left the San Andreas neighborhood of Los Santos five years ago, when it was being ripped apart by drugs and gang violence. When he returns in the early 90s, his mother has been killed, his family has fallen apart and his childhood friends are criminals. When crooked cops frame him for murder, he decides to save himself and his family by taking over the streets. Advanced role-playing elements -- Unlike previous GTA characters, Carl can swim and he needs to eat to survive Side missions help develop skills that come into play later -- from working out at the gym to gambling in a casino
A BIG STEP BACKWARD FROM VICE CITY

GTA VICE CITY Was great.San Andreas was a big let down for me.I expect games in a series to get better not worse. This one is not even near as good as vice city.It is more like GTA 3.It is selling in the stores now for $15.00 which is to high.It is selling used on Amazon at this time for $12.00 which is still to high especially for it used.I purchased it new awhile back for $20.00,played it for a couple of hours.Decided it sucked and sold it it on Amazon for $14.50 and that was the HOT COFFEE version.
Not as expected

A dramatic difference between this one and the others in the series. Though just about anything is better than GTA3, I have to say that this was was less interesting than Vice City. In this game there was more customization and bigger cities but that led to bigger glitches and more sluggish gameplay. Aiming system and driving physics were all greatly altered from vice City to this one. And all for the worse. I had some strange glitches in which I would enter a building to either customize hair or change clothes, whatever it was the character would never come out. Some kind of strange glitch which forced me to reload a previous save.
Overall I was highly dissapointed with the game when it was working and when it glitched. I say, if you liked GTA3 then play Vice City but stop there.
One of the best games of my generation

This game will be talked about not only for its controversial content but also for the pure fact that gaming was taken to a whole new level with the grand theft auto series that has been developed by Rockstar games. The world is expansive in its size, unitary in that fact that it is free roaming, and exquisite in the fact that the graphics (for its time) are amazing. The story line drives the player through the game, motivating through great segment after great segment of an almost never ending game, you will get your moneys worth with this one.
gta has never een better

all new map and tons of territory brin this game towards the top of my list of fav games. one major let down for me was that when i hooked up my alienware usb gamepad, not all of the buttons worked, and there were a few compatabilty issues with my videocard which as yet to fail me since. hogs up cpu and take hardcore vid card to run it nicely but overall the same as other systems wih the added bonus of a custom music station (with annoying commercials added). As a fan of the ps2 version, i must say they pulled it together mostly ok for the PC and aside from the fact that i was not aware that this version (2.0) didnt allow mods, i believe this is a grat buy for and gta fan
