Editorial Review
One of Epson's newest and most unique solutions for homeentertainment is the Epson MovieMate 25 Projector-DVD/Music Player Combo. This multi-entertainment device features a high-quality 480p resolution 3LCD 16:9 widescreen projector with a built-in, multi-format DVD player and self-amplified speakers. Users of all levels can create an exciting big screen experience in their home and other locations (i.e. outdoors, parties, RVs, etc.) quickly and easily without the hassles of connecting various audio/video components. The product's 1,200 ANSI lumens brightness rating makes it ideal for evening and afternoon use.

The Epson MovieMate 25 not only enables customers to simply plug in a power cord to instantly project DVD movies, but can also display CD-R/RW videos, JPEG digital photos, WMA video files and more. The product even excels as a standalone music player for listening to traditional audio CDs, CDs with MP3 files, or as a stereo speaker system for external MP3 players. The MovieMate 25's built-in, self-amplified JVC stereo speakers (10-watt x 2) and external 40-watt subwoofer (also included) produce clear, room-filling sound that is ideal for music and/or movies with Dolby Digital/DTS coding. Furthermore, its audio and video inputs make it a fun solution for playing video games, projecting TV shows and sporting events, viewing photos from a digital camera, watching home videos from a camcorder, and more

WARNING when buying Epson products 2008-04-18
PURCHASE YOUR EPSON PRODUCT THROUGH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER OR FROM EPSON DIRECTLY.

This is not a review of this product, but rather a word to the wise... Two and half months after my purchase of an Epson 10000XL scanner through Amazon, it stopped working. Through the followup and tech support process I learned that, because I purchased through Amazon, the manufacturer nor the seller would honor the 1 year warranty. Epson's position is that Amazon is not an authorized seller and that they merely act as broker for what can often be re-furbished or second hand merchandise.

So, should your purchase break or malfunction, as mine did, you are out of luck with regard to warranty.

This lesson cost me $2400.00

Moviemate 25 2007-12-29
Decent image, and so simple, my wife can operate it! Quieter and cooler then a DLP, but not quite as sharp. Good compromise in a single box.

Affordable Home Theater 2007-10-20
For about $1000-$1200, The Epson Movemate 25 allows you to create your own home theater. I've used mine for about 2 years now, projecting onto my wall to create a 10' screen. A couple times we moved the furniture and had ourselves an 18' (diagonal) screen-great for watching King Kong. The image is sharp and clear and the sound is more than adequate for watching movies from our couch. You won't have "surround-sound" but the accompanying sub-woofer is enought to give a little extra "punch" especially during battle scenes, etc. Combined with Netflix its a lot cheaper than movie theaters. Once you try it, you'll never again waste your time watching a movie on a TV set.

Best Family Gift We Ever Bought 2007-05-29
Bought this for Xmas for the "kids". Had to redo the basement/kids playroom due to plumbing problem...best unfortunate mishap we ever had.
We decided to go from playroom to media room and its is fantastic.
The Moviemate sits on a coffee table and we project to the back basement wall which we painted white. The sound and picture quality is fantastic and the kids love laying on the floor with the pillows for our family
nights. The teenagers love it because we have PS2 hooked up and there are many Guitar Heroe/DDR competitions in life size format...easy easy easy set up. In our opinion its much better than expensive plasma tvs ...and an easy self fixing bulb can be replaced when needed.Try that with a Tv...as soon as you buy it the repair man will tell you to toss when it goes ..too expensive to fix!
Next is a blow up movie screen (199.000) for outdoor movies.the biggest kids is gonna love that for Father Day!!

Epson Moviemate 25 Projector 2007-02-24
I got mine refurbished. After weeks of reviewing websites about projectors, I decided to give this one a shot. I bought a 92 inch screen and the picture looks awesome. I was a little worried about the so-called "screen door effect" that many had mentioned (due to the lower resolution), but that is not a big deal to me for the price range. I don't even notice it unless I'm trying to see it.
The first movie I played in it was Pearl Harbor. That war scene in the harbor with the Moviemate connected via optical cable to my surround sound, gave me goosebumps. I never have to go to the movies again. It really is like having your own theater at home.
We also hooked up my sons Playstation 2. That is pretty cool, too.
The speaker sound w/ the subwoofer is pretty good, too.
All of the other features and the remote I like, also.
I have my Moviemate about 12 feet from the screen to fill the 92 inch diagnal screen.
Oh, the adjustable lens is so cool. Its the only projector I've seen with this feature and I don't know why. It really comes in handy to center the picture where you want it.

I recommend this product for anyone looking for a projector. For a few hundred more dollars, you can get one with a higher resolution so the picture is "crystal" clear, but you'll be lacking a lot of the other cool features.

Great Quick way to set up a hometheater 2006-09-13
I got this projector just to see what it was like. I was actually planning on buying a large screen LCD or Plasma but
the prices on these are going down so fast that I decided to wait, so I got the MovieMate25. The Idea that I can store out of the way when not in use was the buying factor.
I was actually very surprise on how quick the system was setup, but than even more when I saw the 80" screen the video looks very good and sound as well considering the small PKG.
Color tones are balanced and there really is little to do, other than Adjusting lens and pressing the Play button.
For those who whant to set up the system outside for the kids to whach a movie, no other projector will offer the ease of setup that this unit offer. This product also includes the screen, worth around $300 alone. This may not be the top of line projector, but it will satify even those who are very critical about video quality. This is a Winner!

Wow! 2006-07-28
Moviemate 25 projector lives up to all the acolades in the reviews that I read before buying (both on this site and in tech websites). Not surprisingly, it is best used in very dark rooms. Picture is exceptional. Very easy to set up. My only reservation was that the screen was not included though the website indicates it is part of the package. Had to be purchased separately. Seller was very reasonable in addressing that issue.

A Great Start for a Home Theater System 2006-05-23
This package has it all and it is a great system for beginners. I have a small living room and I did not want to move furniture around or clear a wall. You don't need to rearrange a thing when using this system. Just pull up the screen, plug in your projector and subwoofer and you are ready to go. The 80 inch screen is a great addition in this package. When you are done, you can hide the screen under a bed and hide the projector away in a closet. There are some negatives as it is not HDDVD compatible, and it does not accept component inputs. But most people will simply use it to watch regular dvds or hook up one's own video game system. It is an all-in-one system that is inexpensive and a great introduction to home theater.

GET THE EPSON MOVIEMATE, BUY ELSEWHERE 2006-04-11
I am victim no.107 or thereabouts. I received the projector and subwoofer but no screen--like nearly everyone else who have voiced their experience, and the hundred some odd silent ones. I have nothing negative to say about the projector and/or subwoofer as they are definitely a great buy (assuming addition of screen) at under a grand. I had the Optoma MovieTime DV10 and the Epson is an all around better product (exclusion of component out is only bummer).

Unfortunately, Amazon repeatedly refused to take responsibility for the fact that the screen did not ship with the rest of the order; they first suggested the shipper was at fault, then they said it was the manufacturers responsibility and suggested I contact them to resolve the issue. The number they provided me with led to a recorded message from Epson that they were no longer offering telephone support on that line. Amazon offered to refund the purchase price but I don't want a refund, I just want the screen. And since the price jumped $200 overnight, I would be at a loss attempting to re-order. At one point I accepted an offer to replace the order (hope was that screen would ship with it this time). I hung up the phone with the promise that a new unit was going to be shipped. The next day I received an e-mail that rescinded the offer altogether, AGAIN suggesting that I contact the manufacturer! After several calls and too much time wasted I received an e-mail that stated the screen was located and would be shipping soon. 3 business days later I have yet to hear from Amazon or shipper.

My advice: Get the Epson Moviemate 25, it's an awesome deal for anyone looking for an entry level theater experience with an easy setup, and portable to boot. JUST DON'T BUY IT FROM AMAZON. BUY DIRECT FROM EPSON.
