Cute bag

This bag is bigger than you expect! I have a big bad "High Performance Mandara" mat by Hugger Mugger. I haven't experienced any trouble with the strap or stitching -I've only lost a button on the front pocket but the rest of the stitching is holding up well.
The dimensions of the mat are 1/4" X 26"X72" - and it weights approx 6.5 pounds... It easily fits into this cargo mat bag. Usually I stick a bottle of water, my wallet and cell phone in the front pocket. The strap on this bag isn't very long, so if you have a large mat like I do, it does cause the strap to be a little tight on your arm.

Like most other reviewers have said, this bag is incredibly roomy. It holds two mats and a strap with a minimum of jostling (on the rare occasions I can get my husband to go with me) and there is plenty of room in the front pouch for my wallet and keys. I've had it for a few years now and it's still going strong.
great yoga mat bag 2007-07-27
i love this yoga bag. my thick 1/4 inch mat fits well. my only (small) complaint is that the pocket on the outside is a bit difficult to open and close. the button holes are a bit small for the buttons so it takes a bit of work, but at least i know it won't accidentally come undone.
Good, but poor stitching

Okay...so some of the stitching is coming undone where the shoulder strap connects to the bottom base of the bag. I use a Manduka mat (which is wider than most) so that may be part of the problem. Nonetheless the strap is to short for the bag and causes undue stress, hence the seam is ripping. Otherwise the bag is fine. It is the only bag I could find that would fit the larger Manduka mat.
Great mat bag 2007-05-13
This is a great bag. It holds my medium size mat plus has room for a couple of bricks. The outside pocket is perfect for my keys, phone, or a bottle of water. Glad I bought it!
Spacious Enough For 2 (1/4" Thick) Yoga Mats with Handy Pocket 2008-06-01
Nice pocket with two buttons. This allows for storage of keys, cell phone and other items while in class. The bag is spacious and allows for two 1/4" mats rolled up to fit inside without having to jam them in. Shoulder strap is handy for carrying.
Great casual yoga mat bag 2008-04-30
I was looking for a different kind of yoga mat bag but changed my mind immediately when I saw this soft and roomy bag for sale on Gaiam's website. It has one exterior pocket, roomy enough for keys, wallet, and cell phone (an expandable pouch attached to said pocket for cell phone, but I wouldn't put it there because it may fall out while you've got it slung on your shoulder). The pocket is secured with two actual buttons that are hidden by an extra flap of cloth. It's very well made and sturdy.
As for the actual bag's capacity, I could probably fit two yoga mat bags in there without it being too snug. Instead, I put in my yoga pants, sports bra, and slip on flats and it doubles as my entire gym bag. I got mine in army green instead of khaki because I felt it would hide any stains better. It really gets the job done.
Oh yeah, and it's on sale for $9.99 at their website. There is a promo code floating around the internet for $10 off any $15 purchase, including sale purchase. Which means I got this, a $7 Pilates CD and rubber stretching set all for around $12 incl shipping.
Big enough to fit anything in the world! 2008-04-12
I put 2 rolls of standard yoga mats with the bottle of water. The front pocket is big enough to fit my wallet, car key, apartment key, pen, my pocket book and 2 cellphones. There is a smaller front pocket that I can keep my parking ticket in it. So anytime I leave my gym, I drive to the exit, I can take the parking ticket out so easily. How simple is that! The best thing I love the most is the design ; earthtone color! I look so proud and cute with that bag on me. I look like a down to earth person.

This bag is just as it is described. It's not huge, but it does have an extra pocket on the front. I really wanted it because it was all cotton. It looks exactly like the picture, and if I could do it over again I might get something more "Indian" looking for yoga. However, this will probably hold up a long time and you can wash it. It will most likely hold any size yoga mat you can buy.

My boyfriend loved it! He's really into health and fitness and being environmentally responsible. This bag is made with 100% cotton, etc..., fits an oversized yoga mat, wallet, keys and maybe a few extras too.
