Excellent product!

Purchased the DeWalt inpact for myself and co-worker. Absolutely love it. Should have purchased a long time ago. Recommend the drill chuck if you plan on drilling through any metal or use larger spade bit in wood. Eliminates torque on wrist when bit grabs like a standard drill causes.
Only down side (if you call this a down side) is it is too powerfull and when putting in screws it is easy to strip them out.

So far an excellent impact driver. I used it to drill 1/2 inch holes thru 6x6's with a paddle bit. It did a better and faster job than a plug in hammer drill and did not once bog down. I recommend it highly.
would have been five stars if....

If it came with a case, it would have been perfect. I just got done putting in over 200 SDS screws a 4x10 beam. Our corded impact gun was not working, so I used this. One of the guys said that it might be too big of a job, but we were all amazed that they went in EASILY! Impact is the way of the future....I also think that a LiIon battery tool is next for me...
Good solid tool

This is the best tool DeWalt makes. It is great for driving screws or Olys. In cabinets or timbers,

Being a suspicious person by nature I was a little afraid of my first amazon purchase. I paid for a 18v dewalt impact driver and imediately received a conformation email. My driver was delivered on time. The email contained a tracking link to ups wich helped. From Florida to Oregon ten thousand miles later I recieved my package on time. Thank You.
Framing nailer not required

I picked up this driver because I thought it would be handy while I'm renovating a fixer-upper house. I was right.
Originally I purchased a palm nailer to drive framing nails but quickly abandoned that in favor of driving screws with the Dewalt impact driver.
I can't recommend this driver enough for putting long screws through framing and decking lumber.
I recommend driving a few screws into scrap so you don't accidentally drive them too far into soft wood (like pine) but it doesn't take much practice to effortlessly and quickly drive screw after screw after screw.
If your screwdriving needs are more modest I'd recommend a lighter driver, but if you're doing home construction type work I can't recommend this driver highly enough.
Unbelieveable

I was talked into getting this by a salesperson. I was sure I would regret buying it as soon as I committed to doing so.
The first time I used it i thought it was wonderful. Since then it has NEVER let me down.
I was happy with my 18 volt dewalt drill. I used it A LOT. However since purchasing this tool 5 months ago I suspect I can count on both hands the number of times I have used the drill. I ALWAYS reach for this tool first.
Compared to the drill it is lighter, more powerful, faster, and just plain all around better.
Very useful tool for DIYers/Home Owners

Not like this tool needs another 5-star review but I just love it so much I wanted to write about it. I had to do a lot of framing, sheetrocking and other various "household chores" this weekend. Without this impact driver I couldn't do it.
It drives screws through 2x4's with ease although a constant pressure must be applied. If you don't put enough pressure on the tool it'll start jumping and strip a screw head.
Due to the small head assembly it gets into very tight areas. I had to put some 2x4's into the ceilings to hold electrical boxes and a full drill wouldn't fit through the light openings that I had without breaking sheetrock.
One must be very careful when sheetrocking with this monster, it can tear through anything. The trick I use is to just press the trigger half way (or pretty low) and that controls the speed and the torque really well.
Lastly, a few months ago I replaced some windows and bent so many nails trying to install the frames; this tool came to the rescue again. It drove the screws with such ease it was amazing.
I'm also very happy with how long it lasts on a single charge. It's definitely a professional quality tool. My relative uses these tools professionally (has been for MANY years) without any problems.
I can't imagine living without this impact driver now. Once you use it you won't either.

can't believe i waited this long to get one. i have 5 other drills/drivers for varying purposes, but i find i reach for this one the most. i don't think i have stripped out a single screw yet. get one and you will be happy.
One stout little tool

I owned a repair shop for many years. I have used all kinds of air powered impact guns. Some have been very impressive but they always had the air hose to drag along. This tool has no hose and gives you the option of using any of the accessories that has a 1/4 inch hex end. That includes screw driver bits, socket drivers and even drill bits. Put a masonry bit in and now you have the real hammer drill! It takes a fraction of the holding force to drive a screw. Just pay attention because it will keep driving as long as you pull the trigger. I wouldn't recommend it, but I took tires off my car with it. That's strong. And it is smaller than a cordless drill so it fits in many more tight places. If you are into fixing things in a hurry, this is the tool for you. And since I already owned the battery from other tools the price was better because I didn't have to buy the 2 extra batteries, charger and case.
