music right from the movie

my wife is a big fan of the movie. this music is right from the movie. It is not music inspired from the movie like some of those disapointing cd i have atained in the past. it's right from the movie so if you watch the movie you have heard the music before. I don't like the wall art that media player wants you to look at as the music plays but in a cd player it sounds great. It is exactly what you would expect.

Lovely themes

I listened to the recordings straight through. I enjoyed the music, and found the many returns to the primary musical themes very emotional. But I have to admit that I could only listen to the recordings as background music. These are not pieces that sustain my interest. Now, granted, my attention span is not long these days, but I guess I'd hoped to be so moved by the music that I could allow my whole self to simply listen. That didn't happen.

I bought this because we are having a Renaissance themed wedding in a couple of months. We were looking for celtic style music to walk down the aisle to and thought that this would be a good place to look. I really think this is an excellent sound track. There is one song in there that we may use for our party named Flaming Red Hair. Also, I think the bridesmaids will walk down the aisle to excerpts from The Shire. We'll see how it goes. Anyway, even if we don't use the music, I think it is an excellent soundtrack.

Good, but incorrect track listing.

This was an amazing purchase. However, the only bad thing i can say about it is that it the amazon track listing says disc 3 has 16 tracks but it only has 9. I was hoping that the music used in the entire end credits would be included, however it was not. But other than that, Amazing!!!!

You will not regret this recording, or the extended Two Towers and Return of the King. I drove up north and back on holiday with these and you literally take the journey. Shore has composed - and orchestrated, which even John Williams doesn't do - one of the single greatest scores in film history.

The DVD has overwhelmingly superior sound. I only wish it would play in my car stereo!

I love this package of CDs. The box they came in arrived damaged, so it may be too flimsy in construction, but I wasn't about to ship it back to wait for a new box. The CDS works fine and the music is unbelievable! I can't wait to get the complete recordings of "TTT" and "ROTK".
