Useless

This product did not work at all. I sprinkled it all over my squash plants repeatedly after a woodchuck got into them. The woodchuck continued eating the plants, even with the shake away powder all over them. Instead of repelling, I think it actually made the leaves taste better. My squash plants are completely gone. Don't waste your money on this product.
Works for Groundhogs, thus far...

Our little farm has chubby, hungry groundhogs galore, and so far the product works well at repelling this type of critter. My tender sprouts in the veg garden have survived the feast of the groundhogs, I'm happy to report! I can't vouch for effectiveness on other species, though.
However, the 20oz granular product does not go a long way. A 70 foot perimeter application (of a fenced-in garden) requires more than half the container. Amazon's price is excellent. But, the manufacturer could do well to provide a bulk package. A smaller garden would benefit better.

Bottom line, the chipmunks play in it. They roll around in it like it's the first snowfall. The squirrels simply hop over it. The rabbits don't seem to take any notice of it at all. Nor do any of the deer (in fairness, the deer repellent is supposed to be coyote urine). So, which animals is it supposed to repel? It's unsightly, it stinks, it's really expensive and it does not work. If there is an animal that is actually frightened away from your plants by this stuff, I can assure that animal does not live in Ohio. Here, if they notice it at all, it's just something white and powdery that they like to roll in. It would seem to be chipmunks find it a very compelling perfume.
Racoon problem solved?

Recently, a racoon started attacking my hummingbird feeders for the nectar. I sprinkled Shake Away fox urea around the base of the trees holding my feeders. After 4 days, no repeated attacks.
Sorry, Didn't Work for Me

This product may work for some people, but our (2) little rats are either very intelligent, or they don't care. We have been trying to catch them since November (of '07), with 3 different types of traps in two sizes. This was the latest attempt.
I swear, at night, I can hear them singing, "I'm al-right...."

So far our plants are growing well with no pests destroying them. Shake away works great.
tulips unbothered by squirrels
2008-04-29
I used Shake Away to keep the squirrels from eating my tulips and it worked. Last year, without Shake Away, the squirrels ate the tulips as soon as they bloomed. It also seems to be discouraging the local cats from visiting - an added bonus.
It is working

After the first time I spread the powder around my patio. Unfortunately, the next few days was raining. There were still one or two chipmunks running around. When the weather is fine. I poured some inside the hole where they lived. So far I haven't seen any. Hope they are gone forever.

We live in rural Northwest Tennessee and, before we discovered Shakeaway, had endless problems with skunks, ground hogs and opossums burrowing into the crawl space under our 150-year-old house in order to set up housekeeping.
One determined Mama opossum even climbed up from the crawl space, made a nest and raised her babies right behind the bathtub. But that wasn't the worst of it. An opossum and a skunk were competing for the same space and got into it right under our bedroom. The racket was unbelievable and to say we went around with our eyes watering would be putting it mildly.
We tried everything under the sun to get rid of these pests including hiring a licensed trapper who charged us $100.00 to set up his trap and an additional $25.00 for every animal he caught, (cats and dogs were free). When that got too expensive, we bought our own trap but that got old in a hurry.
Finally, when we were literally at our wits end, we discovered Shakeaway via an Internet search and decided to give it a try. We followed the directions exactly and, wonder of wonders, it actually worked! Since these animals are nocturnal, we waited to apply the Shakeaway until after dark, when they would be out foraging for food, and that was all it took.
Our pesky intruders decamped immediately and we've been successfully keeping them at bay ever since.
So yes, I'll definitely give Shakeaway 5 stars. It's a great product which does exactly what it claims it will, and I wish everything else would work as well.
