I had already had this movie, but was thrilled not only to get the movie but the soundtrack as well. Still one of the better musicals I have seen. It is a must have for any lover of black history on the group eras.

It is still good entertainment.

I purchased the movie on DVD because I had it on VHS. It is entertaining and it took me back to the 1960's groups. It is definately one to collect.

One of the best black themed musicals movies ever made

The Five Heartbeats is clearly one of the best black musicals ever made. The songs are catchy, it has heart and humor. Robert Townsend is clearly one of the most talnted black directors of our time and he proved it with this film. The strong performances from Leon,Towensend and the Oscar worthy Michael Wright make the film shine as bright as it did when released back in 1991.

Great movie even 15 years later

It is interesting how some movies become instant classics. The very first time I saw the Five Heartbeats I was 10 years old and I loved it for the music. As a teenager, I loved this movie because I loved the storyline about a group of friends who stuck together. Even though they went through a rough patch they came back together in the end. Now, as an adult I love this movie because it reminds me of a simpler time in my life. I also loved the fact that the 15th Anniversary edition came with the movie's soundtrack. This was definitely worth the money. I would recommend it to any and everyone to see because the storyline is still relevant to this day.
