Genuine Brother product

In the lab where I work printers are under heavy load from multiple users, and Brother HL-5250DN is the best of all printers we had so far. Toner cartridges need to be replaced often. I believe that a genuine toner cartridge from the printer manufacturer is always better and safer for the printer than it's cheap substitute made by who knows which company. This is why I always buy GENUINE BROTHER TN580 cartridges. I never had problems with them.
Do NOT buy generic toner cartridges 2008-01-28
I purchased a generic toner cartridge for my Brother printer. It did not fit properly, and the printer made some grinding noises. Play it safe and buy the real brand-name cartridge. It will cost you LESS in the long run.
Toner Cartridge - good 2008-01-14
Worth the few additional bucks this manufacturer's cartridge costs - over the 'aftermarket' refills. The quality is better; we'll find out if it will last (print) as many pages as advertised.
Good Cartridge 2008-01-09
I have used after market cartridges at half the price, I have refiled toner in cartridges and tried to make them work, but on both counts have been disappointed, the quality of the print was bad after that. I am not sure if Brother is different but Original cartridges seem to work the best and the print quality is as original.
I will have to stick to original, despite the slightly higher cost.
Low capacity fixable, some may be defective

I was disappointed to find out that the toner cartridge stops working before the toner has run out. However, by obstructive the toner window on the cartridge with masking tape, the remaining print capacity of the cartridge is dramatically extended. I will leave it up to you as to whether you want to implement that solution or not.
I had another issue with toner build up on my drum unit from one of my toner cartridges. The problem was fixed by changing out the toner cartridge.

Official Brother toners great improvement over refurbished

I purchased refurbished 3rd party toners that were about a 3rd of the price of official Brother new toners, but our office had a lot of difficulty- toners leaked and ran all over our printers after several weeks, pages came out with huge blotches of ink on the side, and lines up and down the pages. My staff begged me not to purchase them anymore, since the pages looked terrible, unprofessional and unreadable. I've gone back to new official Brother toners for our Brother printers and have not had any more trouble. At Amazon, the prices were about 30% less than at other online office supply stores, although I wish shipping were less. It's pricier than refurbished, but worth it for the reliability of the product.

The cartridge is full retail product and almost half the cost of the same at leading office supplies. Shipping was fast and also free via Amazon's free shipping option. The item works perfectly and was an excellent price at $68. What else can I say, great price, full retail product! Thanks Amazon.
Refurbished worked great 2008-02-23
I freaked when I received one of the refurbished cartridge from one of the vendors in the used and new vendor section. It was quite different looking from the original, but it fit just fine, the print quality is great, and it was half the price of the new one. The cartridge my Brother HL 50250DN printer came with lasted over a year (with my wife being a writer!) and this high capacity cartridge is supposed to have twice the capacity. 1/2 cent per page!
BTW the Brother HL 50250DN is a great duplex printer and i can even feed card stock through it with no problems.
